This was a fresh treasure trove of scallop and salmon chunks lying beautifully atop a bed of furikake rice. Every pop of ikura added a salty sweetness to each bite. Unsuspectingly, the rice here was SO GOOD. Maybe it was the sauce that they used which was slightly sweet and sour, making the rice borderline addictive. The ratio of sashimi to rice here was good, you wont find yourself rationing the seafood as well.
The sauce was tangy, a little bit sour which made it super refreshing. Only thing was that weโd wish for more salmon (we got 4 slices!)
They were super generous with the togarashi seasoning, but the powder that did not dissolve gave off a grainy and gritty texture at some point.
We also got their ๐ง๐ผ๐ฟ๐ถ ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ฎ๐ด๐ฒ ($๐ด) and ๐๐ฏ๐ถ ๐๐ฟ๐ ($๐ฑ), which would be great pairings for their sake and beer!
๐ต๐ฌ) were gorgeously presented. However, we found the ratio of rice to filling to be quite imbalanced, with there being wayyy too much rice. Furthermore, the rice was packed very densely and did not have any sushi vinegar flavour. We had trouble finishing all those carbs.
As they are still in their soft launch phase, some things could be tweaked better. However, weโre glad that their rice bowls and mains were executed well and live up to the standards of their sister restaurant @tanukiraw! Sumo Bar Happy is also pet-friendlyห
