I do wonder what their cheesy nacho sauce is made out of, though (I donโt think it tasted anything like cheese ahhah) โฃโฃ

โจ SALA offers a refreshing take on the Tex-Mex cuisine I know only through Chiliโs. Their offerings definitely did not make me feel as jelak as I would from the latter. And unsurprisingly so, with health being a central focus of the eatery (the first thing I see when I enter is Organicule Superfoods products), and did I mention they are vegan ๐? But of course, my favourite dish happens to be the least healthy of the lotโ the ๐๐ฉ๐ช๐ฎ๐ช๐ค๐ฉ๐ข๐ฏ๐จ๐ข, which we opted to be deep fried instead of air-fried. Itโs like an upgraded version of the ๐๐ถ๐ด๐ฉ๐ณ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฎ ๐๐ด๐ข๐ฅ๐ข burrito we had, with the same rice and mushroom filling but complemented by a light, crispy shell; topped with a heaping mountain of beans and tomatoes; and slathered with the aforementioned tangy vegan cheese sauce and mayo. โฃโฃ

Would love to be back but I stay too far away ๐ I guess as the Chinese saying goes, ๆ็ผๅ่ง (till fate lets us meet again)
Veggie lovers, we've got your back! This vegan-friendly restaurant in Sri Hartamas doles out delicious and good-for-you Nourish Bowls (RM23) that are loaded with tasty plant-based ingredients โ you won't miss meat when you try this! Build your bowl with their unique sides โ from cliantro lime brown rice to bbq jackfruit, mushroom asada, guacamole and more. If you spot the General Tso Mushroom (RM18) on the menu, order it! This hearty bowl sees crunchy deep-fried hericium mushrooms coated in an addictive sweet sauce served with brown rice and broccoli.
Build your own hearty rice bowls here with a variety of delicious vegan options. Ours was filled with addictive bbq jackfruit, spicy tempeh, grilled veggies, almonds and mangoes for added sweetness. Love that the ingredients are the main star โ cilantro brown rice is hiding beneath all that goodness. Comes with a chilli option, which we opted to have on the side โ thank goodness as it was spicy!
A special at Sala, this bowl sees brown rice served with delicious crunchy fried mushrooms, broccoli and a chilli drizzle. Such a savoury and hearty dish โ I even commented the โchickenโ tasted so good. Who needs meat?
Build-your-own rice bowl, and boy this was a loaded one. I love how there was a 70/30 fillings to rice ratio. I got my bowl with, to name a few, spicy tempeh (LOVED THIS ONE), BBQ jackfruit (ALSO LOVED THIS ONE), grilled veges, avocado and mangoes. So delicious and wholesome.
Trust the vegans to come up with this near-perfect replica of the classic American-Chinese dish. Hericium mushrooms coated in sweet sauce then deep-fried. Kinda taste like Gu Lou Yok for reference. Super addictive and probably not the healthiest vegan dish, but hey, itโs mushrooms!
Wish the broccolis were cooked a little, but overall the dish was a superb one.
