Not sure why got hype, literally tastes like fried rice and water. Why you never add stock sia 😔
I've been here several times and this dish is always a repeated order (also one of their signature dishes). It might seem strange for some to pair cheese with prawns at a tze char restaurant, but I love both so this is a winner. They were very generous with the mozarella cheese. One of my favorite tze char places!

The fried porridge was special, had this tzechar claypot smell, with bits and pieces of taro and shredded meat in it. Fried beehoon was v fine, but the ingredients were just too pathetic for a $6 portion. As for the chicken I found it too dry. And it was v difficult to eat with all the bones in it.
.
(Hehehe and we both almost found ourselves without cash when paying for the order (luckily it was before we ate it). I only had $2 in my wallet 😱.Thankfully he had emergency money hidden in his wallet 🙊🙊. Me don't bring a lot of cash around - my mentality is if I don't have cash with me, it makes it more difficult for me to buy things (usually food and snacks) and will make me rethink my decision lol) #burpple

I have yet to try this till now. I remembered, the first time I went there, the waiting time was 3 hours long just to try their famous fried porridge. I totally gave up. Now, since I was nearby the vicinity I decided to try it again. This time the wait was only 20 mins.

Different from it counterparts, the Royal Js fried porridge is stirred fried with ingredients like yam cubes, dried cuttlefish, dried shrimps and finally topped up with chives and pork lard fritters. Not only was the porridge texture thick, it carries a strong wok flavour with the pork lard as a flavour enhancement. The only thing that I did not quite like was the yam powdery feel and the lack of meat.

Overall, I had an enjoyable experience and I will drop by there once again to try their zi char menu. Oh ! and I have notice that 88 Roasted meat specialist have shifted to the opposite road which I heard so many good reviews about it
Fried porridge!! In short - i liked it! Many ppl says no wok hei flavour, it's true... but for this dish, i don't expect any wok hei so it's good. If i have to q or make a considerable effort to go there, then it's not really worth it. First came to know of this place through @justinfoodprints

Pros: Tastes awesome! Generous for single portion.
🍜
Cons: Quite salty. Texture similar to mushy yam paste/carrot cake - like eating gloop. Drifts between nice & weird. Very little shredded chicken.

Price: S$6
This porridge was fried in the wok with yam, dried shrimps and cuttlefish, before serving in the claypot.

I like that it's thick, starchy, with some wok fragrance, and that variation in texture as it was served with pork lard, lots of spring options and fried shallots. I didn't like the taste of yam in the porridge, but that's my personal preference. But that brown sauce was savoury and yummy without being overly salty. It's thick but ain't too heavy, such balance. I finished this whole claypot by myself!
