There are 5 types of rice to choose from. I got purple rice and mixed grains with seaweed, chickpeas, black fungus, spicy floss and minced Thai chicken.
I loved this! Tasty rice roll (I picked purple rice), with stewed egg, pork floss, seaweed, emperor veg, coleslaw. Will try the red rice next!
Purple rice soya was delicious too, tasted like pulot hitam and was light on the sugar which enhanced the taste of the purple rice.
Chose vegetarian toppings (each riceroll allows you to choose 5 among a wide variety) of burdock root, wakame seaweed and emperor beans (supplement $0.30) because the meat options didn't really appeal to me.
Despite it being completely meat-free, this deceivingly small rice roll kept me reallyyy full for a long time! I think it must have been the generous amount of purple rice (I suspect the same kind used in pulut hitam because of their similar taste and texture) used to wrap the ingredients.

My impression of QQ Rice stayed with those nutritious rice balls made from their variety of rice options (I like their purple rice the most). Yet I was excited when I learnt that they have diversified their food selection, with bento sets as one of the items.
The Nyonya Chicken Bento (S$5.90) comes with a good serving of oats rice for the high-fibre wholesome carbs. The chunks of nyonya chicken tasted like a lighter tone of sweet and sour chicken, but the gravy itself goes well with the rice. Each bento set comes with two side dishes (basically the ingredients they pack into the rice balls), so I could choose any two vegetarian or non-vegetarian options.
For best nutritional benefits, remember to choose more greens or unprocessed ingredients and slurp down less gravy.
Opt for healthier choice today - had purple rice with thai sesame chicken, pork floss, silver fish, broccoli and seaweed.

Vegetarian today so I bought QQ rice oat rice in Xiang Chun flavour. I love it!! Though a bit oily (I hope it's olive oil) the texture and bite to the oat rice is nice. Crunchy! Will try the other variety too!!

I always thought qq rice only served vegetarian items / mock meat items (maybe that was 9 years ago lol)! When I visited the stall today, I was surprised to see quite many non-meat choices! For an ala carte rice roll ($4.80), you get the choice of 5 ingredients, and they don't have to be xx veg. You can order 5 meat items! What I ordered: brown rice (Heng I eat brown rice, if not I don't eat any of the other rice choices!). For ingredients I had mushroom, non spicy chicken floss, some egg mayo salad, teriyaki chicken and fish fillet. But because a rice roll was too troublesome for me to eat, I ate it open face like normal Cai Fan style. I must say it was not bad! But not too sure if the portion is enough for my lunch!
