I don't usually order black pepper from Chinese stalls but Malay stalls do it better. Together with the runny egg, this was a flavour bomb. The meat didn't come neatly as a cutlet but it is.
We've had very good mee goreng from some Malay stalls so tried our luck again. Fortunately, this had the wetness and the intense flavour. But the yellow noodles got jelak soon.
I love this dish. The version here is a bit different. The chicken used is chicken rice roast chicken, so drenching sambal chilli over it was quite unconventional. The rice, soup and second chilli were good too!
The dedication to continue a family tradition, sacrifices made and innovations embraced. Each of these freshly steamed rice Kueh with palm sugar filling was such a joy to the palate.
