It blows my mind why someone would order this, coffee and matcha clash so hard
Koicha is a thicker version of matcha which I like it. Only served during Ichibanacha (First Flush).
Always been a fan of Matchaya desserts, and their parfait ($16.80) did not disappoint either.
The parfait came with 4 scoops of soft serve, though it was supposed to be all of their available flavours, sadly they ran out of black sesame and hokkaido milk that day. We had the houjicha and Matcha soft serve then and both were so rich! Loved the roasted flavours coming from the houjicha, and the aromatic tea flavours from the Matcha. It also came with popped rice, mochi and azuki, which we thoroughly enjoyed as it goes well with the soft serve. It's good for 3-4 to share and satisfy your matcha cravings!
Visited Matchaya on a Saturday evening and it was rather empty. The matcha beverages remained warm for quite long as they were served in glass cups, which most likely helped to retain the heat of our drinks. The hot straight matcha was nicely bitter and was whisked to a smooth enough consistency. When reaching the bottom of the cup however, please do note that there will be quite a lot of matcha powder and it is recommended that you slowly sip the drink instead of gulping it down to prevent irritation to your throat. The matcha powder used for both beverages was of high quality and those who prefer a slightly less bitter version can opt for the matcha milk over the straight matcha, where you can also choose the sweetness level (no sugar, less sweet, normal) that you prefer.
Wanted to have their Tamago Sando ($10) but they ran out of bread. Hence, they offered to use croissant instead which we are ok with it. The fries is air fried and croissant was baked before serving to us. I like the fries had the sesame seed and was crispy. Croissant was baked which have the crunchiness. However, I think the egg mayonnaises does not have much eggyness and too saucy. I would prefer if there is less sauce and more eggyness.
Had their Signature Matchaya Parfait again but this time, they did not have seasame hence, we choose hojicha as a replacement instead. We also ordered the Hojicha Milk which was good too.
