The yuzu cream encased inside the mildly crisp layers (even without heating?!!) was sweet and aromatic, like a perfect valentine's date. I especially enjoyed the bits of chewy peels and the matcha top which provided a bitter fragrant twist to neutralise the sweetness. The croissant is only slightly buttery but still quite apt since it wouldn’t overpower the main highlights of the croissant.

With a slightly savoury dough and a maximum crisp when toasted, the danish is perfectly paired with its super fragrant apple filling which is surprisingly refreshing despite the sugar rush. I enjoyed how it's slightly tart to prevent it from being too surfeit, and also the bits of apple fibres which provides a nice crunchy texture. The raisins provided quite the extra burst of flavour while the peppered cinnamon elevated the danish's sweetness. 🤫
++ I think BB has the crispest croissants/danishes so far 🤤

Bakery brera has managed to intricately balance the different profiles of the danish which best showcases its expertise in viennoiseries! 🤝

I was first invited by the soft fluffy dough with the classic tangy tug of sourdough which whets you appetite. 🤰 It was also pretty dense and bread-like while retaining a good amount of moisture. 🙌

It felt like there was a civil war between the acidity of the lemon and sourdough though, as I couldn’t quite differentiate the two. The butter was quite lacking compared to other bakeries’ viennoiseries. :/

I haven’t tried other bakes from MoDo but have read raving reviews. This is probably best to be missed and not the most stellar bake from them. Any other recommendations from MoDo though?

I was welcomed immediately with the passionate crackles of the perfect morning when I first bit into it! ❤️ Of all the almond croissants I’ve had so far, I felt that this was one of the more buttery ones! Pretty enjoyed the fragrant sweetness concealed in every bite, especially because of the almond frangipane on top and within the croissant. 😚 Toasting it definitely provided bread yard’s already extra-nutty almond flakes another level of aromatic umami with extra nuttiness. 🤯

The almond croissant from bread yard is evidently dense as seen from the more levelled cross-section. Definitely depends on your preference too — on whether you prefer croissants with well separated honeycombs or flatter ones.

If you’re one who prefers more almond > croissant, bread yard is THE ONE for you!! They are kinda humongous too so it will fill you up till you BABA! 🤩

I was first welcomed by the the invigorating aroma of butter and orange fragrance which invites you to dig in for bite. 😍 Then, I took the leap of faith to bite into the orange (including the peel), and was rewarded with a pleasant chew with an exotic aroma, accompanied by the distinct hint of bitterness. Gladly though, BB’s magic does not end here. Beneath the sweet citrus, inhabits the perfect antidote to orange bitterness — molten hazelnut chocolate. All elements are extremely well-balanced to bring out the best in everyone. This is messy business with myriad of flavours which you are bound to be addicted to. How much more perfect could it get?? 🧡

The danish may end up slightly limp due to the overwhelming sauces and juice. Tip: lay the danish flat instead of vertically!

With every element well perfected, every mouthful just makes you question: “how the hell could I have bought something THAT OUT OF THE WORLD??!!”. 🌌Today I learnt that BB innovates ideas which not only works, but is executed with perfection. I’ve found my new love. ❤️❤️❤️

Gosh, this is one dense and CHONKS piece of croissant. This could be one of the flakiest and loudest croissant I’ve had so far!! There was lingering sweetness in every bite, accompanied by the quintessential buttery fragrance of a well-made pastry. The co-habitation of grainy taro and soft mochi produced a really intriguing yet unforgettable texture. 🥺 The top (supposed) sweet potato crust provided a touch of sweet earthy fragrance too! Also, bb is really super generous with their servings which makes the premium price slightly more worth it. (I was really full after eating this 🥴)

I kinda expected more Q of the mochi but it was pretty much non-existent. (Maybe because i toasted it?) 😕 It’s definitely on the sweeter side which overpowered some of the butter fragrance.

A pretty well-executed and creative croissant which wins in their laminated crust and servings. 🤩 Definitely on the pricier side though.
