Bakes & Pastries
Sugary roll packed with cream. The bread’s flaky, sugary outer was nice, but the cream inside leaned greasy and heavy, making it jelak after a few bites. Not my preferred type of cream, though the texture of the roll itself was enjoyable.
Soft bread topped with a slightly crusty, buttery, sugary layer. The bread itself leaned plain, relying on the top for flavour. The buttery sweetness carried it through, making it simple but decent.
Lightly toasted bread with a golden brown surface, filled with smashed eggs, ham, and cheese. This is one of my favourite types of bread to spot in a bakery. The filling was generous, but the outer could have been crisper to give that sinful crunch I usually look forward to. Still, it was tastisfying enough.

Not the kind of crème brûlée I had in mind. This creative version was creamy rather than wobbly or custardy, but still nice and sweet. The infused cempedak gave a unique taste and helped tone down the sweetness. The caramelised sugar crust was torched beautifully and cracked nicely when tapped. Definitely a “love it or hate it” kind of dessert due to its distinctive flavour.
Here the biscoff is swapped for oreo crumb. Less appealing than the original, as a certain flavour feels missing, but still acceptable. Very creamy and full of banana taste, just not as good as the classic version.
Homemade whipped cream with real vanilla layered with sliced banana and biscoff crumb, then dusted with cinnamon powder. Extremely creamy, at least 90% of the tub is cream, yet surprisingly not jelak for me. Smooth, sweet, indulgent cream that feels like a guilty pleasure. If you love cream, this is probably for you.
Spotted a newly opened bake shop widely known for their lovely sweet bakes. Don’s Oven has been operating since 2018 as a home‑based business and running bazaar stalls over the years, but now they finally have a physical store in Yishun which is located right next to the coffeeshop that houses the famous Pak Mandor Nasi Lemak.
Desserts after a hearty brunch or lunch? Right up my alley. Prices are one for $8, or three for $22, and CDC vouchers are accepted. They also sell merchandise like T‑shirts, tote bags, and aprons.

Anyway, congratulations on the opening, wishing them sweet success ahead!🎉

Butter dough made with sponge dough method, generously filled with matcha cream, dusted with matcha powder, and finished with coconut flakes. Soft texture, strong matcha character. The first bite hit me with that unmistakable matcha punch. Even nibbling the outer layer, the flavour was bold yet balanced. The bread itself was soft, QQ, with gentle sweetness that paired beautifully with the creamy filling. The matcha ganache was rich and smooth, intense without being overly bitter or powdery, while the coconut flakes added a subtle lift. Bitter and sweet found harmony here. Best enjoyed fresh on the same day.
Recently passed by a familiar old‑school bakery in the same neighbourhood as the famous Pak Mandor Nasi Lemak and bought a waffle and drink to snack on. This bakery is a real gem to crave, and they’re not only just a bakery but also a mini mart. They renovated last year, and now you can even find Burmese products here. Wow.
Waffle (Butter) ($2.30)
Chewy texture with moderate pandan‑infused flavour, spread with delicate savoury butter melting onto the piping hot waffle. Simple and enjoyable.
Lime Jasmine Punching Tea ($3.50)
Wow. They made good punching tea. Sweetness, tea taste, lime — all on point. Quite refreshing with a cooling, citrusy effect as the drink goes down your throat.

A friend brought this box to share. There were six square sourdough doughnuts in total, half Burnt Butter Honey Glaze and half Lemon Cremeux, each originally priced at $3.60.
They may look ordinary, but once you bite into them, you will fall in love. The doughnuts are soft, chewy, and elastic, with flavours that speaks volume. The burnt butter one is especially good and definitely recommended.
Burnt Butter Honey Donut
Made with burnt butter, honey, and sea salt. The glaze on top is rich and intense with that deep burnt butter taste. Honey adds sweetness, while sea salt enhances the profile and depth.
Lemon Cremeux Donut
Filled with citrusy, lite lemon cream made from lemon juice, butter, and egg. Finished with a sprinkle of icing sugar. Refreshing, sweet-tangy, and balanced against the soft dough.

🍫 Chocolate Lava Cake ($10.90) - The chocolate cake was thick and rich, although it was not flowy or molten enough for my liking. Despite that, the taste was still pretty good.
The pastry was flaky, buttery, and crispy, and filled with generous amount of matcha cream, making every bite a burst of oozing matcha goodness.
