Piping hot stews are truly the best for a rainy day, so we found ourselves at SBCD Korean Tofu House for dinner today⛈️! The Soontofu in their stew is very soft and silky, and we especially love the one with pork in it🐷! Their other dishes were super good too, especially the Unagi. It's well-seasoned, soft and nicely grilled🐟! The prices here might be slightly high, but the food's really good🍲. And their portions are pretty generous and with free-flow side dishes as well, we're always stuffed at the end😌!

💸 Steamed Egg & Rice Roll: $10 (add on)

Kinda sad that they removed the sundae soup from their menu🥺but we got the Dak Bal and omg this was so addictive!! The Dak Bal came in this spicy sauce that taste better as the sauce gradually boils down and thickens. Mix the chicken feet (deboned it ourselves) with some rice balls, half boiled egg and top it with some sauce is so so good🥰Also have it with the steamed eggs if you find the chicken feet a little spicy🥵Although the prices are not cheap, will definitely want to return with more people to try more food!😄

Heading to the Tanjong Pagar on a Friday night is kinda insane, with long queues forming outside most restaurants🚶♀️🚶🚶♂️🚶♀️🚶🚶♂️Todamgol is a Korean restaurant that we enjoy visiting and is (in our opinion) worth the wait! Get the Mo Deum Jun if you can’t decide which pancake to get😂 and while everything in the platter is good, our favourites are the pollack, eggplant and shirmp🥰

Choosing between jajjangmyeon and jjamppong is always a tough decision for us😭. Sooooo we decided to get both!!😂The jjampong portion is super generous and comes with a lot of seafood like mussels, clams and prawns🍤. We love the soup as it is pretty thick with a nice spicy kick🌶️ but tasted slightly diluted hmm, super shiok on a chilly day! The jjajangmyeon was really good!! The sauce complemented the chewy noodles and we prefer this slightly over the jjampong☺️Also, getting dumplings to go along with our noodles seems like a thing for us now🥟. It's a little pricey, but the dumplings were pretty huge and had lots of filling in it, super satisfying while it's hot and crispy~😚

📍Anju, Tanjong Pagar📍
💸 Domi Carpaccio: $24
💸 Yuk Hoe: $28
💸 Hogam Jeon: $25
💸 Bossam: $50
💸 Cameo Makgeoli: $32
...
Having heard a lot about the interesting selection of Korean alcohol at Anju, we finally paid a visit ourselves☺️! Got the Cameo Makgeoli which was slightly milky with hints of hazelnuts🌰 and dark caramel, and we absolutely loved it! However, we were slightly disappointed by the food. Contrary to our expectations, the Hogam Jeon tasted more like a cracker instead of a pancake and was pretty dry😕, and the Yuk Hoe🐮 was spicy unlike the traditional ones. We did like the Domi Carpaccio and Bossam though. However, given its slightly steep prices😰, we probably would not return. If you love Korean alcohol and love to try new selections, give this place a shot🍻!

📍Oven & Fried Chicken, Telok Ayer📍
💸 Fried Boneless Chicken Whole (Original)
💸 Fried Boneless Chicken Whole (Soy sauce)
💸 Crunch Chicken Half (Original)
...
Our favourite korean fried chicken in Singapore has got to be the ones from Oven & Fried Chicken. They do their classic flavours like Original and Soy sauce really well🍗! We love that the chicken was super crispy, even when coated with the sauce, and juicy on the inside😲. Their other options, like crunch chicken (without oil) surprised us as well, by being super tender and juicy😍. Really damn shiok with a can of refreshing coke or beer!!🍻

📍King Army stew, Fortune centre📍
💸 Classic army stew (M): $12.95
...
Headed down to King army stew for its opening promo till 28 Nov of 50% off their classic army stew. Definitely a steal considering how army stew is normally priced within the $30 - $40 range.💯 Taste-wise is on the lighter side and we wished there was more flavour and kick to it!!🔥 A wide variety of ingredients were included, such as the usual sausage, cabbage, tofu, luncheon meat etc. Worth it for $12.95 nett but maybe not so much if we were to pay the full price🤔 Lastly, the queue was pretty crazy when we went down, so we definitely recommend making a phone call reservation or heading down earlier!!

💸 Assorted Pancakes
💸 Sundae (Korean Blood Sausage) Soup
💸 Bossam with cabbage wraps and kimchi
...
Impromptu Friday plans brought us to Tanjong Pagar aka “Korean Town” and wow there were queues forming everywhere (not surprisingly though😂) Luckily we managed to snagged a table at Todamgol without reservations for some korean food😍Had to get their sundae soup- super hearty, generous serving and the perilla leaf taste was so pronounced! Also got their assorted pancakes (what a gorgeous platter) and we throughly enjoyed every item on the platter but favourites got to be the shrimp and sesame pancake with pork. And if that’s not enough, we got greedy and ordered the bossam as well😂 Pairing everything with some chilled makgeolli, what a perfect start to the weekends✨ Strongly recommended to make reservations!!

📍MukJja, 275 Thomson Rd, #01-07📍
💸 Noodle with black bean sauce: $10.80
💸 Fried chicken with garlic sauce (S): $32
Despite being one of the newer korean restaurants, it definitely stands out as one of the more authentic ones. Our favourite here was definitely their signature jjajangmyeon topped with generous amounts of meat and onions in a black bean sauce. Pair it with some pickled radish, which is definitely jjajangmyeon's best friend as it helps to cut through the grease.👭
Wanted to try something different from tangsuyuk, so we got the kkanpungi (spicy fried chicken with garlic sauce) instead. And we actually liked it more! As the sauce is not the sticky type unlike in tangsuyuk, the chicken remained crispy even after being left out for a while. Also, the sauce gave a nice kick to the dish!🌶️
Overall, we had a really great and authentic experience at mukjja. What's even better is that they offer value-for-money sets and many other types of korean dishes you don't get in other restaurants. What's not to love?☺️
