Indo/Indian/Peranakan Food
We came here in early March 2020 for dinner!
For 3 pax, we ordered 6 dishes and 1 dessert for sharing!
1. Ngo Heong $14 - Minced pork and prawns seasoned with five spice powder wrapped with beancurd skin and deep fried until crispyπ
2. Otah Otah $4 - had a flavourful blend of tumeric and lime leaves enriched with galangal (similar to ginger but more citrusy and almost piney flavor) chilli, buah keluak (candlenuts) and shrimp paste. π
3. Ayam Panggang βBlue Ginger signature $16 - this is my favourite dish using boneless chicken thigh and drumstick grilled and topped with their flavourful exotic spices gravy (turmeric, lemongrass, galangal, other spices and flavoured with coconut milk.)π
4. Kueh Pie Tee $8 - Julienned bamboo shoot and turnip served in a deep fried pie tee cup topped with shrimp!π
5. Curry vegetables $14.50 - lady fingers, egg plants tomato and cabbage! π
6. Terong Goreng Chili $13 - deep fried egg plant (a tad too oily) laden with their homemade chilli paste and sweet soya sauce was heavenly!π
7. Durian chendol $7 - Red bean and Pandan flavoured jelly in freshly squeezed coconut milk sweetened with gula Melaka and durian pureΜe. π
Overall food and service were pretty good but small servings or we have big appetite and ended up ordering 10 dishes for 5 pax sharing!
1. Beef Rendang $25 - Tender beef shin braised with spices and cooked with creamy coconut cream sauce. π
2. Ngoh Hiang $18 - a bit of Prawn, crab meat, chicken and a light crunch from the water chestnut, seasoned with five spice powder wrapped in beancurd skin and deep fried.π
3. Chap Chye $16 - Classic Nyonya dish of mixed vegetables and bean curd skin braised in prawn bisque.π
4. Buttery prawns $33 - fried prawns tossed in a butter gloss and crispy curry leaveπ
5. Tahu goreng $9 - Deep fried bean curd topped with sweet and tangy VOβs signature peanut sauce! π
6. Turmeric chicken wings $15 - lemon grass chicken wings served with spicy chinchhalok sambalπ
7. Daging Chabek beef cheek $37 - slow braised tender beef cheek in a rich spicy tamarind with gula melaka gravy and coconut. π
8. Kuay pie tie $17 - Julienned bamboo shoot and turnip poached in a prawn bisque served in a deep fried cup topped with prawn, chilli sauce and sweet fruit sauce. Canβt go wrong with this one! π
9. Buah Keluak Ayam $25, Nyonya spicy and tangy chicken stew and buah keluak nut infused with fresh root spices of lengkuas and turmeric. π
10. Cod in creamy laska sauce $39 - baked cod in a delectable creamy laksa sauce drizzled with coriander pesto.π
