The claypot ee-mian has the soul-comforting factor that is perfect when the weather gets cooling while the chicken rice is nothing out of the world but a decent meal option around the area.

I can safely say, this is one of the best seafood mee sua ($5) I've had. The sauce is thick and incredibly smoky, and so darn flavourful from the seafood stock that is used to make the dish. The noodles were also nicely springy, and the portion was pretty generous. They gave quite a few clams and a prawn and they were all very fresh!
An unassuming casual chinese restaurant that serves simple chinese dishes affordably. Founded in 1989, @jinghuaxiaochi is renowned for serving delicious homemade dumplings amongst other dishes, with home-style recipes introduced by its founders.
The following are dishes that Iāve tried:
Pan-fried Mixed Seafood & Pork Dumplings
Xiao Long Bao
Chinese Pizza
Rosemary & Cheese Dumplings
Pan-fried Sichuan Veggie Dumplings
Steamed Xiu Mai
Zha Cai Rou Si Noodle
Red Bean Pancake
Today, the restaurant continues to uphold the tradition of offering "honest-to-goodness" Jing Hua cuisine to its fans old and new. They are available for dine-in, delivery and pick-up. Do check them out for some simple and honest chinese dishes!
The Crab beehoon claypot came with another pot of noodles. Gravy was heavenly! Crab cost $85, just nice for 4 pax and with 1-1 deals, the bill came up to just $110. Friendly service and ample parking space.
This is my fave item here - crispy and juicy and all around flavourful and better than the xiaolongbaos. We were served by a wizened old lady who has been working there for decades. The last time I went the shop was more rundown and rustic; it is now upgraded and clean and modern. Pity business has dropped a lot because of the construction boarding all around. All the better for us since no crowds to deal with because the food is still great~
This is the ba chor mee (without a name) opposite Tiong Bahru hawker centre. Itās in the same coffee shop as Looās Hainanese Curry Rice (71 Seng Poh Road), which has an equally long queue, so make sure youāre in the right queue.
What I love about this BCM is how much ingredients you get - itās nuts!! This was their $6 bowl, but it comes with 3 (deshelled!) prawns, lots of meat slices and chunks, mushrooms, a meatball, and 3 wantons! I like their wantons in particular because theyāre extremely tasty, and almost a bit sweet. The soup is also great and the taste kind of resembles the wantons. The noodles here arenāt the best for me- theyāre okay, but I still like this BCM overall because thereās just so much stuff to eat.
Totally didn't expect this unassuming plate of white-style, dry-ish bee hoon to taste as good as it did. Arriving in a cloud of smoky aroma, it was appetisingly fried with plenty of crispy "ikan bilis" and chopped up vegetables such as potatoes and fat beansprouts.
This was from "Meera Mee Stall (Bedok Corner), East Coast Lagoon Food Village, unit #01-52.
For 1 pax ($5), this portion is really generous! Chicken breast is really tender, with the sauce and fried shallot/garlic, itās even better! š¤¤ Soup is chicken soup with lots of cabbage, warming and flavourful. With free flow of achar (such big chunks! Pineapple is really sweet). Chilli is very garlicky which I love. Rice is normal. Will definitely be back again š
Sio Bak has a nice skin which really crumbles. It's as biscuity as people say and it's really quite different from the normal crisp. I got a rather lean cut which was actually fatty enough for me so not complaining. For some reason there's not really a queue though.
Char siu was an absolute stunner as well, being very fatty. The exterior is very well roasted, thus it can be slightly dry but there's a lot of flavour and a contrast in texture. Again it's different from any others I've tried.
The gravy really goes well with the char siu in particular. But make sure u communicate ur order clearly cos somehow I bought two plates lol
Chanced upon this zi char place as I saw a queue outside the store and decide to give this a try. I am sold! Generous portions and good quality food. Yums.
At $4 bucks with such good quality, thereās really nothing much to ask for more. The efforts that goes into preparing this dish is tremendous and the cook sure does so with pride! Such a hidden gem.
The name of this stall ā One Ton Mee ā at Bendemeer Market & Food Centre tickled my fancy so I decided to order from them. š
The kolo mee was actually pretty satisfying, and the large ($5) left me feeling quite full. While the noodles were a little dry initially, a little soup solved that quickly. Char siew wasn't like cardboard, which is a sin too many stalls are guilty of and the pork lard was šš.
