Only available on weekends! They have the mixed salty and sweet ones and the pure sweet ones. Try one of these before they are lost!!
I used to live near Yong's and my family would head over for breakfast every other weekend. The queue during weekday mornings can get pretty torturous. Most customers in front of us were getting boxes and boxes of kuehs- it was no surprise to see customers walking away with 2 big bags (at least 8 boxes of 6 kuehs each) at a time and there were times we would wait for almost half an hour before it was finally our turn. I remember watching these customers happily walk away with their orders while I nervously waited for my turn, wondering if this cabbage kueh would run out. Sometimes I would be disappointed, but there were also times where I was rewarded with steaming hot and fresh cabbage kueh- wholesomely filled with veggies, mushroom and haebee. Easily one of my favourite kuehs in the world. #hawkerpedia

Checking out Kueh Ho Jiak's latest outlet at East Village — serving up pretty much the same variety of potato skin Ang Ku Kueh along with other varieties such as Tapioca Kueh and Carrot Cake. The colour of the kueh are all natural here, using the colours of both purple and orange sweet potatoes. The variety of flavours have grown a bit since back then, with a variety of filings for the Ang Ku Kueh as compared to the time when they first opened at Tanjong Pagar.
The Yam one was nice — filled with mushy fillings that come with small chunks of yam for a bite; a very subtle, earthy flavour that doesn't cloud the tastebuds. The Kaya Salted Egg was the one that wins the Yam one hands down — a mix of savoury and sweetness that I found pretty addictive; all of the fillings being encased in a skin that is soft and chewy without being too sticky nor greasy. Totally on point! 👌🏻
Aside from that, I'm impressed with the variety of Ang Ku Kueh they offer and especially the Sesame one🖤🖤🖤 #burpple
Bought 12 soon kueh, 6 peng kueh, 6 gu cai kueh, 1 yam kueh, 1 box of pumpkin cake & 2 boxes of yam cake. For my family and my mum’s. Ate some and they are really good! 👍🏻 Skin is so thin, chewy, soft and smooth. Filling is very generous so worth the price $1.30 ea. (cake is $3 ea.) My fav got to be gu cai (chives) & their famous soon kueh! 😋
Bigger than most, with a thin, soft and moist skin, the handmade "ku chye kueh" from "Ah Yee's Soon Kueh" was today's happy find. I like how plump it was with an abundance of tasty emerald green chopped chives.
Although "Ah Yee's Soon Kueh" just opened last month on Tembeling Road (they're right next to Song Kee Fishball), this family business used to operate from a stall in the basement of Dunman Road Hawker Centre for eight years. They took a five-year break before setting up at this location.
Besides the one shown above, the following are also freshly made by hand daily: "soon kueh", "rice kueh", "yam kueh", glutinous rice, pumpkin and yam cakes. They have boxes of kaya and achar for sale too. You can choose to dine in as well as they have a few tables set up.
