the queue was loooong but worth the wait imo. the prawns were fresh n sweet + the fragrant shallots have a nice varying crunch!! the soup was decent too ~~~

the viscous sauce was so tasty w a distinct nuttiness, and the yellow noodles were springy enough to catch hold of all the flavours. it comes w taupok, an egg, mutton satay chunks and a bergedil; super generous w the ingredients!! the bergedil in particular was soft and fluffy. this bowl rly changed my impression of mee rubus

the noodles were well-seasoned and bouncy but the highlight was defo the charsiew, it reminded me of those in hk, w a nice meat to fat ratio and the charred bits completely won me over. the wanton was just mediocre but the skin was paperthin loaded w a nice amt of filling so honestly for $3.50 i do think u get a bang for ur buck!! the XLBs had a thin skin w tender meat, and the soup carries a hint of sweetness. not my fav but defo not too bad :~)

i nvr ever give bad reviews for food, this has got to be the first one ever but definitely necessary. when the food was served i was shocked at its presentation (which i filtered to make it look btr haha) but i figured i shldnt judge it based on its looks. however the taste disappointed me more; the chicken had more bones than meat. the sparse meat itself was dry and tasteless, with flavour only derived from the splatters of sauce. the egg was terribly over cooked, as seen by the thick green ring surrounding the yolk. this resulted in the yolk being crumbly and the white being rubbery. the only saving grace was the tangy chilli which helped to round the whole meal tgt to make it acceptable. i have seen so many great reviews abt this place, perhaps i just came at a bad time or ordered the wrong thing but hopefully this is the first and last time this happens :( defo not worth the $5.20 paid, even $2 chicken rice tastes way more satisfying than this

while it looks unassuming it was actually rly tasty w a substantial amt of meat. the pork was juicy and tender but note that it wasn’t pulled pork though, it was more like chinese shaorou chunks marinated w the same sauce as the salsa (or similar). but i’m not complaining it was tangy, slightly spicy and flavourful. i loved the mix of veggies and the crisp wrap which gave a nice varying texture + the cheese was melted nicely! the chips w fresh, salted well w a crunch. JK had the pulled pork brown rice bowl which he rates as “not bad 7.5/10 but spicy” 😂😋 so that’s pretty decent!!

the coating itself is good in terms of flavour though and i liked the apple slaw which cut thru the grease!! i defo preferred the deluxe burger bc it has everything i love — cheese, sautéed onions, mushrooms and truffle aioli. the beef patty itself was super juicy and the aroma from the truffle was super distinct!! shout out to the v well buttered brioche buns that were so soft and fluffy!! i always appreciate a good one 🙂👍🏼

the fish was super fresh and well cooked so i enjoyed it altho the portion is slightly in the small side. the rice comes in onigiri style which is quite innovative. rly A for effort in terms of presentation!! JK’s beef while tender was slightly lackluster as it wasn’t flavourful enough :( but portion wise this was much btr!! the star of the meal was defo the yokoyoko (in the middle) — which tilapia fish wrapped around a filling of crabmeat mayo w additional mayo on top. this was rly creamy and tasty + i likes how it kinda disintegrates in ur mouth (altho some might find it a lil overpowering if u r eating more than one due to the mayo overload)

thin and crisp skin, encompassing tender and juicy flesh 🤤 this honestly surpasses all standards of fried chicken! love how it’s so flavourful, yet not oily (idek how) + they r generous in portion too. $13 for half a chicken is rly affordable! wld defo come back to try the honey butter one the next time

pretty decent stews at a rly affordable price!! the bourguignon ($7 for large) was hearty and flavourful, with a generous amount of tender beef cubes! but the chicken and mushroom veloute ($8 for large) was a slight miss as it tasted watered down and the chicken chunks cld have been more seasoned :( the accompanying ingredients in the soup were rly yummy though and they complemented the stews v well!! + the roasted pumpkin w thyme ($2 per serving) was well done too!

i must say i found the rice texture didn’t work well for me bc it was slightly too dry yet clumpy 😅 and the mentai mayo was also more mayo than mentai in flavour! this made it slightly overpowering and jelat esp w the donburi sauce! however, they did make up for it in portion!! it was pretty generous and at its price point ($6.80) it’s real decent!!

the maki was slightly overpriced ($5.80) for its tiny size but the texture of the ebiko contrasts w the creamy mentai mayo, which encompasses the rice and core filling which made a pretty yummy mouthful :~)

been here before and i think i prefer the unagi tama and donya maki!! nonetheless i think it still does the job or satisfying jap cravings and it’s a notch above other jap stalls at its price point!!

don’t underestimate the deceivingly simple name and look of the food here..... JK and i decided to try it just because it was new (it’s at the same coffee shop at donya) AND WE WERE MINDBLOWN.

the chicken is so flavourful and tender, honestly so much better than all the commercialized kebab stations out there both in taste and texture. in fact this is one of the best we’ve ever tasted!! it’s kinda like subway style whr u can choose ur veges and they are always so fresh!! they also have a variety of sauces as well but our fav is the garlic yoghurt!! it’s creamy yet tangy, not jelat at all. it’s actually complements the chicken and elevates it to another dimension YUMZ. the only slight downside is that the pilaf rice cld have a lil more depth in flavor but everything else makes up for it!

the guy who owns the stall is rly nice as well!! the wrap usually comes w fries but he allowed me to change it to soup :’) we tried the fries before though! he only fries and seasons them upon order so it’s always piping hot and crispy!! he also fried eggs specially for JK on request (pluspoint: the eggs were runny in the centre 🤤) &&& he’s so generous with the portions like srsly :’)

the menu is limited to mainly wraps and rice plates w some sides (he recently came up w pasta as well!!) we nvr ventured out of the chicken bc we always WANT it but there are falafel (for veges out there), lamb and beef options too!

for $5(wrap) and $6(plate) it’s honestly such a steal for the quality and quantity!!! just wanted to share this place to all those out here who’s looking out for good yet affordable middle eastern food choices!! ☺️
