Craving for medium rare ribeye steak 🥩
Sambal Kangkong, ThaiPan Fried Rice, Cereal Chicken, Steamed Whole Fish HK Style, Butter Squid, Olive Fried Rice. The food was pretty good and affordable and I loved the view as it was facing the large pool.
Al Borgo – or "village" in Italian – is an authentic trattoria. Situated on Bukit Timah Road, it offers a tantalising menu of home-style dishes that's served in a cosy setting. Cosciotto di Pollo e Funghi ($25) - Grilled boneless chicken thigh served with mushrooms. The chicken thigh was done perfectly with a crisp to its skin. The sauce had hints of red wine which went well with the chicken thigh. Loved the mushrooms too! Prosciutto ($20) - Mozzarella cheese and ham pizza. The pizza tasted so good when it was served piping hot! Pappardelle alla Boscaiola ($24) - Pappardelle pasta with beef ragout, porcini mushroom and light cream sauce. Another great dish!
Spanish Style Gambas ($14) - Sautéed shrimps cooked in garlic and dusted in paprika, olive oil and chili. This was my favorite dish...so flavorful! BBQ Pork Ribs ($18) - Slow cooked pork ribs, BBQ sauce, coleslaw, potato wedges. Spanish Paella ($39) - Traditional paella with mussels, prawns, calamari, spicy Spanish chorizo (pork) and chicken drumsticks.
Soup of the Day - Mushroom Soup. Seafood Platter for 1 - Platter of grilled prawns, white fish and fried calamari (I opted for that) served with paella rice and chips. Chilli Crab Spaghetti - The pasta was not really to my liking. I got reminded of Mee Goreng/Mee Rebus when I tasted the pasta. The soft shell crab was good tho.
N.Z. Sirloin Steak with Grain Mustard Sauce and Grilled Shiitake Mushroom
Halia – Malay for ginger – is located in the one-hectare Ginger Garden of the Singapore Botanic Gardens. The use of ginger is distinctly found in their dishes. Paperbag oven-baked halibut fillet ($33) - with soy and ginger broth, sesame Japanese rice, wakame, wasabi aioli, ginger flower sambal. The fish was superb. Smooth, creamy and very fresh. The brilliant mix of miron sake with the ginger broth was magnificent. The broth went very well with the rice. Halia's Singapore style chilli crab spaghettini ($26) - in spicy, sweet and tangy sauce. It came with generous chunks of crab in my favourite chilli crab sauce. It was very palatable and tasty. Die die must have chocolate ($10) - chocolate element and raspberry. The chocolate pieces were perfect and not overly sweet, while the raspberry added a nice tang to the dish.
Tanuki Raw is located on the fourth floor of Orchard Central. It's my second time
visiting the restaurant and it's definitely one of my favorites. I was given an outdoor seat this time and I loved the alfresco dining ambience. Ordered the Foie Gras Truffle Yakiniku Donburi ($23) and the Salted Duck Egg Char Siew Donburi ($18). I could just eat the Foie Gras Truffle Yakiniku Donburi everyday! A generous portion of perfectly pan-seared foie gras, accompanied by tender and flavourful US Black Angus short rib with an oozy onsen egg, mixed with truffle soy and black garlic brown butter over Tanuki’s signature rice. Every mouthful just brought me to heaven. Another choice would be the Salted Duck Egg Char Siew Donburi. Roasted slow cooked pork belly marinated in salted duck egg char siew sauce and served with an onsen egg over Tanuki's signature rice. The former would still be my favorite and I would definitely go back Tanuki for it again!
Red platter which consists of Prime Rib Eye, New Zealand Lamb Cutlets, BBQ St. Louis Pork Ribs, Garang Rice. White platter which consists of Lime Leaf Chicken, BBQ Tiger Prawns, Whole Norwegian Mackerel.
The Lu Rou was wonderfully tender and melted in my mouth. The Steak with Pickles was succulent on its own without any sauce. The Pork Ribs were coated with tasty Hoisin Sauce and were moist and juicy.
Chicken ‘N’ Watermelon ‘N’ Waffles, Buttermilk Biscuits and House Fries.
