It's been years since my last visit to @vcrlovesyou Bangsar where I fell in love with their πΎππππ¨ππππ π π§ and πΎπ€ππππ β, and this time upon my return to KL, I decided to indulge in the ππ§πͺπππ‘π πππ§ππ’ππ‘π ππ§ππ«π‘ππ π£ for brunch at the Galloway branch!
I was surprised at how delicious the house made πππ‘π’π€π£ ππ§ππ«π‘ππ ππ was, delightfully plump and tender, but not overly salty like the usual processed ones that you'd get at the supermarket.
Paired with creamy πππ§ππ’ππ‘ππ ππππ¨ π£ on crispy ππππππ ππ€πͺπ§ππ€πͺππ ππ€ππ¨π© π, the portion of ππ§πͺπππ‘π πππ‘ could have been more generous as it was pretty faint, but what blew me away was the combination of mildly sharp πππ§π’πππππ£π€-πππππππ£π€ π§ shavings and πππ§ππ’π₯ πΎπππ‘π‘π ππ‘ππ ππ¨ π¦πΆοΈ which gave the dish that little kick of spice and flavour.
Washed down with a cup of nutty and well rounded ππ‘ππ© ππππ©π β and well taken care of by the friendly staff with their exceptional service, it's not hard to see why VCR is one of the leading cafes in the area. π₯°β₯οΈβ₯οΈβ₯οΈ
Warm and fluffy Otak-Otak buns π fresh out from the traditional wood-fired oven, these babies took us by surprise with the amount of generous fillings in every bite. ππ²πΎ
Stock was running low when we arrived around 11am on a Saturday morning, so we were pretty lucky to snag these together with 2 boxes of their famous banana bread! ππ (Will review that later ππ»)
The buns had a nice springy texture, which put them at a level wayyyy above commercially made bread. π Old school food made the traditional way always tastes the best, don't you agree? βπ»β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ

Winding down the week with my fave Kurobuta Shabu Shabu π₯π, sooooo yummy and affordable for my wallet! ππππ
The black pork is definitely the dish that makes me return again and again for more, tender slices of juicy goodness dipped in sweet and savoury sukiyaki sauce warms my heart and soul! β€οΈ Don't bother with the pork cheek though, it came frozen and super tough... A little disappointed with that..
Still, Arashi offers one of the best value for money hotpots across the causeway, and I'm definitely coming back for more! ππβπ»
While everyone was queueing for the free #ιΏε¬·θεθ castella cake π₯π°in SG, we went straight to their origins in Malaysia! π²πΎ
Soooooo soooooo moist and soooooo fluffy!!!! π±β€οΈ Much better than the dried out cake from Le Castella that we had previously. π
The Original #ιΈ‘θη³ (RM13) was deliciously eggy and melt-in-our-mouth, and everyone including the elders were raving about it! ππ»ππ»ππ» So we went back the next day and bought more! Also got the Cheese flavour (RM15) to try, will review that once we get back to SG with our loots! π¬π§π§π§
The Original won hands down! πβ€οΈ I personally loved the premium cheese crepe, but everyone found it too strong for their liking~ Or maybe I'm just a cheese addict! Hahahaha... π§π§π§π

π§ π This #hokkaidocheesetart pretty much hit the spot with a wobbly centre and savoury crust which crumbled perfectly with a crunch. πβ€οΈ Baked slightly rarer than #bakecheesetart but I really liked the silky texture!
