KL Seafood Hokkien Mee ($8.80) - thick noodles in glistening dark soy sauce with a distinct wok hei. The sauce was black and rich. The taste was enhanced by the use of pork lard and crunchy cabbage. There were squid, fish and prawns used. Soy Sauce Chicken ($16 for half) - the chicken was tender and moist and was infused with bold savory flavor from the gravy. Best eaten with white rice. The Crispy Tofu was complimentary from the chef as we waited half an hour for the Soy Sauce Chicken to be prepared. :)
The signature claypot rice was priced at $16 for 2 pax. It consisted of a pot of rice topped with chicken pieces, salted fish, pork belly and vegetables. Dark soy sauce was added in and mixed well with the ingredients and rice. It had a savory and smokey taste. The chicken pieces were quite tender too. Salted egg soft shell crab was priced at $20. It was really crunchy and tasty. Another must order for me!
Deep Fried Mango Fish, Deep Fried Pork Ribs, Fried Squid Ring and Fried Rice. All the dishes were tasty and reasonably priced.
Beef Kway Teow, Hotplate Tofu and Salted Egg Pork Ribs. The Beef Kway Teow was good and had the wok hei flavor. The beef slices were tender too.
JB San Lou Mee Hoon ($11) - Fried with shrimps, egg and vegetables, the Mee Hoon was full of flavors and wok hei. This was super good! Best eaten with green chilli. Salted Egg Prawn Roll ($20) - The salted egg prawns were crunchy and fresh. Corns were added and gave extra sweetness to the flavors. Another must order! Deep-Fried Fermented Bean Pork Belly ($12) - The pork belly strips were marinated well and the flavors were good. They remained moist and tender. Best eaten with sambal chilli.
Dry Roast Sotong ($13) - Loved how the squid was marinated, the flavors were really good. The texture of squid was chewy but not too hard, and it had a smokey flavor to it. A really great dish! Dinosaur Pork Ribs ($16) - These huge sized ribs were coated with sticky yummy sauce. Loved the fatty parts of meat that just melted in my mouth. Hokkien Mee ($10) - The broad yellow noodles and thick beehoon absorbed the rich stock and became slightly gooey. The dish had squids, prawns, bean sprouts, fishcakes and pork lards in it. Excellent wok hei and the gravy really held the dish together.
The dishes are tasty and reasonably priced. Must order the fried mee sua and prawn paste chicken!
Butter Ribs ($8) - covered with condensed milk powder and curry leaves, the pork was fragrant and slightly sweet. Drunken Cold Cockles ($6) - it was served cold, loaded with garlic, chives, and doused in a spicy sauce. Honey Fried Chicken ($8) - the chicken was well marinated as the inside was tender and flavourful. It was deep fried till the outside was crisp. These three dishes with two plates of rice came up only to $24. So cheap and delicious! Definitely will come back and try the other dishes.
