Wild Barramundi Brown Rice Bowl. Wanted to order the zucchini pesto pasta but i didn't see it on the menu so next up is this rice bowl! It is served in a claypot and mine comes with pesto sauce which you can mixed it with your brown rice. It is all garnished with shredded lettuce, red onion, avocado, lime wedge. I just wanted to say how fresh and yummy the barramundi fish is! yum yum yum! The brown rice is also fragrant. Can i eat healthy from now on? lol
I went to alakai and tried their Moku Poke plate which comes with 2 scoops of rice topped with some furikake, mashed potato, carrots and salmon which is quite well marinated. You're also allowed to customize your own plate but the guy there recommend i try their poke plate as it was my first visit. :)
For a healthy and satisfying lunch, head to this stall at Bukit Timah Market and Food Centre for a bowl of hearty vegetarian Thunder Tea Rice (from $4). We hear the friendly owner's a karaoke fan who's not at all shy about breaking out into a tune! While dried shrimp and ikan bilis are obviously absent, the dish more than makes up for the flavour thanks to the medley of toppings — chopped greens, peanuts, preserved radish (chye poh) and peanuts. The accompanying basil and mint soup is also spot-on in terms of flavour, and we appreciate the tiny details, such as the optional green chilli sauce made with apple cider for those who like their food with a bit more kick. Pro tip: Take Burpple Tastemaker Fabian Poon's advice to go easy on the rice, as the addition of red beans in the mix will fill you up.

Saying no to plain ole boring bento meals, Lean Bento’s offerings are pretty extensive and tasted nothing like what I expected. Aiming for a guilt-free lunch, I had the Super Hero Bento right off their menu - Honey Miso Salmon and Chicken Breast Sausage for protein, Air Fried Tater Tots as complex carbs, Cherry Tomatoes, Scrambled Eggs and Mesclun Salad. Or you can simply customise your very own bento! Loving the tender slab of salmon and the surprisingly flavourful sausage patty, both were moist and nicely seasoned - tasty and clean. And of course, you can’t go wrong with tater tots but since they are air-fried they stay crisp longer and are not oily at all!
To sweeten the deal, top up $2.95 with every meal for a protein waffle, muffin or cookie. I had the Dark Cacao Ninja Protein Muffin which was wondrously chocolatey. Though a little denser than most, it was sufficient moist and soft (most importantly it didn’t taste ‘healthy’). As for drinks skip the dollar add-on of green tea (quite bland) and instead get their Matcha Latte or Iced Chocolate to complete your meal.
Got the H2 bento set with truffle edamame beans, teriyaki chicken, sweet potato mash, corn and salad. Absolutely delicious and well worth the price ($11.95), especially with this kind of portion fit for a starving student like me!! Not only is their food filling, but also doesn't make you feel guilty either. A gorgeous colour combination like that only comes with fresh produce and a well balanced meal! Also tried out the matcha waffle with almond flavoured protein gelato ($6.95) which was another win. The generous ice cream scoop was delightfully rich and creamy while the flavour of the matcha really came through with the crispy, warm waffle. Overall a fantastic experience well worth your buck, located in a quiet niche of holland. You'd walk right by without even noticing it!
asian black pepper wagyu beef rice bowl - a mix of brown and white rice, grilled wagyu beef 😍, homemade black pepper sauce, an onsen egg, and greens that change on a daily basis. all for only $6.50 and this is my favourite at @tastystreetsg! do pick up their advice to mix everything together, especially the onsen egg, and eat it like a bibimbap to get a lot more flavour in each mouthful. other varieties include iberico lor bah and truffle hotplate tofu chicken rice bowls, or you can also choose to create your own bowl.

Nyonya-inspired Assam Fish Brown Rice Bowl. Expect a huge portion of haddock fish doused in a house-made assam sauce that contains cubed zucchini, sliced mushrooms and organic tomatoes. The dish comes with an onsen egg and a side of greens too.

A dish that surpassed my expectation, with the flavourful prawn broth bearing a sweet unami note. Instead of the usual fried, dry style of Hokkien mee, this version is served in a soupy base, resulting in soft, wet vermicelli where every mouthful possessed the sweet, umami flavour and fragrance of the prawn broth. Due to my personal preference, I had requested for squid to be omitted in replacement for more prawns. Prawns could have been more plump and juicy IMO but the addition of generous amount of fried egg and tender, well marinated chicken chunks made the overall meal a satisfying and fulfilling one; every spoonful an enjoyment to my palate 😋. Also served alongside is a side of homemade chilli sauce that sure packs a punch with its tangy note of spiciness - not for the faint hearted! 🔥 My dining partner and I could not help but agree that this was indeed one of the better Hokkien mee out there. Though price is not that economical, the ambience, service and quality of food makes every $ worth it! 💖 .

Plentyfull is refined — the spacious bistro cum grocer is bright and tasteful, and the various seating areas (there's a private dining room, booth seats and a communal area) make this the perfect spot both for a business meeting over lunch or a reunion with your university mate. Foodwise, they offer build-your-own bowls, so let your creativity loose! Set A ($17) comes with one base, one protein and two sides while set B ($19) comes with three sides. We recommend the risoni, short cut pasta shaped like rice, as your base and the very tender, unbelievably delicious soy and ginger caramelised pork belly as your protein. For sides, the Caramelized Parsnip and Spiced Carrot and Maple and Bacon Brussel Sprouts are both very tasty, and portions are generous. There are only three sauces here, and they're all good, especially the addictively good chili jam that resembles Indonesian chili!
