Very comforting and very affordable claypot dishes in a cozy part of Serangoon! Of everything the ngoh hiang is to die for, especially when eaten fresh. Skin super crispy with a generous amount of filling that is very savoury as well
As the name suggests, this place specialises in lamb. Slightly pricey but quality is not bad, decent variety, and the environment was nice.
Prices have increased from last year, and for a weekend/PH (irrespective of lunch/dinner) it's $25.80+++ but still worth the money. The quality of ingredients is good, sufficient variety, free flow drinks. The way food was served (raw meats placed in separate "containers", the rest + veg consolidated on one big plate) was very sanitary as well. Service was good with the staff constantly checking in if anything was needed. Will be back again!
- Charcoal Chicken and Shrimp Siew Mai - This was not bad. Had quite a generous amount of meat and the roe on top added some flavour.
- Xiao Long Bao was alright, nothing too special
- Char Siew Chee Cheong Fun was good. Again, they were generous with the meat fillings, the flour was soft and nice to chew on.
Would be back, the overall quality of dimsum was good, but it's still rather pricey even with Burpple Beyond voucher claimed
This cost around $40 (for about 3-4 people), it's pricey for mala but the taste and quality is pretty good. The taste is more of "la" and less "ma" (less peppercorns) though.
Still one of my favourite places for my Chicken Rice fix. The chicken, accompanied with light soy sauce, is really juicy and tasty. I appreciated the fact that they don't dish out too much rice with every serving (each bowl is small) so I have stomach space for other ingredients. Their crispy skin tofu is also another favourite of mine.
A pretty good place for mala. There were a wide variety of ingredients (about three racks!) and also all of the ingredients were well-cooked and prepared. Paid $18.90 (for so many ingredients!) but that was during their promotional period. They're on Fave as well so mala lovers can regularly return and enjoy the cashback :')
Here's a stall that sells quite a number of creative dishes such as pork/chicken with Coffee and Pumpkin sauce (as pictured) - those were pretty good and the flavour was not overpowering. They sell quite a variety of dishes, all were nice except the stingray, which wasn't very worth the money.
Came here upon reading many good reviews and I am officially jumping onto the mala bandwagon! Service was very efficient. Best part is that customers are charged according to item, and not weight (I know some stalls can be quite scam!) Veggies cost $1, meat for $2, and premium meat for $3, rice for $0.50. Got the portion for one because it is big enough to be shared between two. Please do yourselves a favor and get a 中辣 (medium spiciness) or above! Spice level is very tolerable for me, considering that I am not a pro when it comes to eating spicy food. But still very shiok! 😋
‼️TIP‼️If you are ordering a bigger bowl/more ingredients to share, get the 大辣 so there will be enough chilli oil to be spread across more ingredients.
Featuring their braised claypot chicken, sauteed oysters, french beans with minced meat, pan-fried turnip pancake, fish, and lean pork in soya sauce! My favourite has to be the oysters. It has a strong wok hei and the sauce compliments the porridge very well (oh, I should mention that their rice and sweet potato porridge is free flow). I loved their onions, it was cooked to perfection and I couldn't stop eating them!
