Twist With The Cafe Vibes
If you’re up early and looking for a breakfast place around the CBD area, check out Butter Bean. There’s one located at Funan mall along North Bridge road.
Their toast were elevated with some local favorites like Milky Milo, Omu cheese, Flossy chick and more. They also serve savory sandwiches like B.F.F Battered Fried Fish, C.F.C Crispy Fried Chicken. The one I had is the B.F.F Battered Fried Fish which come with the curry sauce. Their curry sauce reminds me of McDonald curry sauce but with a kick. As much as the sandwich looks pretty plain and simple, their toast were well toasted and buttered on the outside, while a bite into it reveals its soft and pillowy texture. Ordered a creme brûlée latte to goes with it. Latte zng-ed up with layer of foam and caramelization at the top.
Enjoyed this plate of Grilled Pork Chop from Eleven Strands, an inquisitive cafe situated along Yio Chu Kang road. A generous piece of pork chop with reasonable thickness grilled to perfection. A little overcooked on the edges but moist and tender in the middle. The mash purée was smooth and creamy while the purple slaw gave the dish a refreshing note and crunch. This cafe along JooChiat road served pretty good fusion western with a slight touch of exquisiteness. The bowl of Manila Clams cooked in white wine were fragrant, sweet, juicy and plump. Goes really well with the butter toasted bread that was light and crispy, fully soaking up all the essence of the umami broth. Miso salmon was equally impressive too. Tender with alluring miso scent and wished the bouillabaisse foam flavor was a little bit more intensified, it would then complement completely well with the mash too.

One of a kind. Aglio Olio in spinach purée which blends beautifully well with the Parmesan cheese and linguine. Savory on the right note. Simple it may sound but it's definitely a dish filled with good flavors. Prawns could be fresher though!
A good fusion of east meets west. Abundance of shredded savory Peking duck wrapped cozily in blankets of sweet and soft pancake. With the presence of an orange compote to heighten its flavor with a tinge of citrusy.
A surprise find along the Boon Tat street. Not that it's new to the district but just not a place we will commonly go for lunch. Nonetheless, a pretty cosy environment that serves up some decent food. First taste of the carbonara was brimming with truffle and once you break and stir the egg into the pasta, the truffle taste mellows down and became more subtle. The dish had the right flavor in place but the penne was a little undercooked. Will be back to try a couple of other dishes!
This lamb shank braised with gochujang and red wine is totally awesome. Meat is tender and easily detached from the bone. Filled with intense flavors from the marination and stew, not too spicy neither does it taste too astringent, it was a well balanced taste instead. The accompanying smooth and silky pomme purée is praise worthy too!
Look no further for decent steak at affordable price. The betterfield is the place for you! Medium steak with meat in sheer red and each bite nicely done. Meat stays juicy and tender with the ends just a tad chewy. But overall it's worth the nett price paid for!
Completè Chorizo - Ibêrìco Chorizo and Comté Cheese enveloped within the Savory Crepè with a Sunny Side popping up. Lightly charred tasting Crepè with flavors kind of built on the different saltiness.
Delicately plated with Baked Half Scallops topped with Sunny Quail Egg and Cavier Masago. Spaghetti was cooked to al dente, and wholesomely infused with the taste of Masago Cavier. Half Scallop was well seasoned and baked to perfection; not too hard and chewy but instead light on teeth. The dish is a little heavy on taste some might find, but this dish definitely suits my taste bud, someone who enjoy seafood and prefer food with heavier flavors!
Seafood laksa pasta from #criollococoacafe. Thick and rich laksa gravy that forms the base with each and every strand of spaghetti and seafood infused with the laksa flavor and taste that all of us are so familiar with. Favorite dish for the night!
Merry marriage of sweet with savory flavors. The beef and mushroom hidden within the toast were juicy and flavorful and fruits topped above the toast were sweet and crunchy. Most of all could taste the eggyness of the French toast. Highly recommended!
