Seasonal special only available for the month of Sept and Oct, this charcoal mille crepe comes with bamboo charcoal infused crepe layered with charcoal flavoured pastry cream, topped with a buttery black glaze and garnished with crunchy cocoa nibs. Perhaps many might envision charcoal as a flavour for the aesthetics, but this flavour surprisingly turned out fine for the palate as well πŸ–€! The thin paper-like crepes were layered substantially with smooth charcoal infused cream and there was a lingering roasted flavour and a (surprisingly) pleasant charred aroma to this flavour that was akin to that of roasted coffee beans. Along with cocoa nibs that added a pleasant crisp factor, the mille crepe is sufficiently moist, with a soft and fluff texture. Indeed, I must admit that @ladymsg β€˜s seasonal cakes always never fail to disappoint, and its the only flavour that makes me coming back for more. Though the usual mille crepe flavours can be pretty much given a miss, the seasonal flavours are definitely worth the try! ✨ .

Apart from the usual classic sets with chicken wing, chicken drumstick, you can also choose to customize your own plate of nasi lemak with the wide variety of dishes available. I had mine customized with a total of 4 ingredients as shown, at a pocket friendly pricing of only $5.30. Had initially wanted to try the chicken rendang but was told it was only available on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Nevertheless, I had no regrets trying the other dishes available which surpassed my expectations, especially the butterfly pea rice that was so fragrant and flavourful, I polished off the entire portion. The salted egg chicken retained a crisp battered exterior while encasing tender, juicy meat within, drizzled generously with a creamy savoury salted egg sauce that came with a distinctive, aromatic note and a slight tinge of spiciness from the curry leaves. The sunny side up was perfectly shaped with a vibrant orange yolk that was semi solidified while the achar added a pleasant refreshing crunch along with its characteristic tangy tinge of spiciness. The fish otah was not too bad, a pretty huge portion as compared to the typical ones out there, soft and delicate though I would personally prefer if it was spicier. On the downside, the sambal chilli was too sweet for my liking (regretted asking for more πŸ˜…) though it was still a mandatory companion to the nasi lemak. Wouldn’t mind coming here often if only the location was more accessible, given the quality and pricing of food. Time to check out the chicken rendang on my next visit ☺️ .
Thanks to @dance.apple.dance for the great recommendation! XD .

A vegan-ised version of the Singaporean famous local dish, this fiber-fueled wholemeal bun sandwiches a konjac "crab meat" plant protein patty, fresh romaine lettuce, topped with homemade chilli krab sauce made from handcrafted traditional rempah. An option to have it with or without onion&garlic, which I opted for the latter as I was on a strict vegan diet that day for some reason. Nevertheless, even without the addition of the spices, the sauce was flavourful and packs a punch! Tangy with a lingering spiciness, the rempah chilli "crab" sauce highly resembled those of the local tze char in terms of appearance and texture, a slightly thick and lumpy viscosity. The copious amount of sauce provided (PS: beware of your hands while eating) was literally dripping with each bite, providing the bulk of flavours to the "crabmeat" patty that came with a crisp battered exterior encasing a chunky, fishcake-alike interior of konjac. Along with a crunchy romaine lettuce, the bun was also soft and fluffy. Available as an ala carte or set meal (choice of broccoli/ fries), this burger was a tad pricier than the rest but certainly worth a try at least once if you are a fan of the signature local dish. What's more, you can also reserve through @eatigo_sg and enjoy savings of up to 50% off to lighten the burden to your wallet πŸ˜‰. (PS: Look out for their Halloween special that is soon to be launched!) .

Do be prepared to wait at least 15 min as the rice patties and har jeong gai cutlet are freshly prepared upon order. Served with a side of fries, the nasi lemak burger comes with leggit nasi - deep fried coconut rice patties that had an ideal well executed cracker-like crispness on its exterior, comprising of a seemingly rigid and compact interior of grainy rice; turned out to be fragile and crumbly though (as evident from the photo πŸ˜…). The fragrance of the coconut infused rice patties also shines through, with a lingering aroma. Sandwiched between these crisp and fragrant coconut rice patties comes a thick slab of har jeong gai cutlet topped with housemade sambal sauce, layered with cucumbers, sunny side up and lastly topped with garnishes of peanuts & ikan bilis. Indeed, a great resemblance to the nasi lemak with all the essential elements present, unlike the caramelised onions in Macdonald's version πŸ˜…. The har jeong gai cutlet by @ahtanwings had a crisp well-battered exterior that packs a punch with a subtle albeit distinct umami haebi fragrance, encasing tender and succulent chicken thigh meat within. Topped with home-made sambal sauce by @wonderfulnasilemak that added a flavourful touch of spiciness, the spiciness was distinct, lingering but a tad too mild for a sambal sauce with a mere presence that could have been provided more generously. Along with a fried egg (thank god it's not a fully cooked solidified yolk ), crunchy and juicy cucumber slices, the peanut and ikan bilis might seem like a calefare but it added a pleasant crunch factor as well as a flavourful waft of fragrance to the "burger". Fries were well seasoned but less crisp as compared to my previous visit. Loved the fact that the burger was served atop pandan leaves that retains a characteristic coconut fragrance. // Today's the last day of operations of @cornerkampung at Brunners coffeeshop! New outlet would be opening soon at Shaw Tower.

In collaboration with Ah Xiao Teochew braised duck, @cornerkampung, the burger sandwiches slices of braised duck, cucumber and garnished with spring onions, coriander and a little chilli paste. An interesting fusion of the west and the east, with the braised duck being tender, meaty and flavourful. The burger buns are soft, buttery and fluffy, but given the miserable size, this can be easily be mistaken as a slider instead πŸ˜‚. The size was even smaller than my palm πŸ™ˆ. The side of thick cut fries were crisp but lacked seasoning, pretty bland in flavour where chilli sauce and ketchup is a mandatory complement here. Looking forward for their new weekend special: Nasi lemak burger πŸ”! But this time round I am definitely not coming with an empty stomach πŸ˜‚.

The one and only seafood wanton mee stall in Singapore, the wantons here are filled with crabmeat along with the usual minced pork! πŸ¦€ Each servings comes with charsiew slice, bok choy, shredded crabmeat, deep fried wanton strips and crabmeat wanton on a bed of egg noodles. Along with a small bowl of soup with steamed crabmeat wantons, the egg noodle are tossed in a flavourful , well braised sauce that had a springy, QQ texture that was firm and pleasant to the bite. The char siew slices were tender and well marinated but could have done with less amount of fats and more meat instead. Nevertheless, the highlight here was still the crabmeat wantons- after all, that's what they are famous for. The deep fried version executed an ideal crisp exterior with fresh, juicy fillings. Just like the deep fried version, the steamed wantons were plump and juicy, with tiny cubes of water chestnuts within adding a pleasant crunch factor to its soft, flimsy skin. If u still can't enough of the crabs, there's even some shredded crabmeat slices (real leggit crabmeat) atop the noodles. Optional sambal chilli was provided at the side for that extra spice which was a great enhancement with its shiok, lingering spiciness that I even requested for more! The only gripe was the location that's pretty inaccessible unless you are staying in the vicinity. .

The portion of minced chicken was indeed generous, much left after I was done with the pasta. The fettuccine was done to an al dente consistency, with a slight firmness to the bite. Along with Parmesan crumbs, juicy pork lard and minced chicken, the mushrooms were nowhere in sight but the end result was one that's flavourful and enjoyable, without being too overwhelming for the palate. Really fancy the fact that fresh, handmade pastas are served here instead of processed ones, which made my trip to this secluded location worthwhile and what's more, there's a 1 for 1 deal for all pastas every Wednesday. My only gripe was the small portion of noodles that would be insufficient if you are having it on an empty stomach. .

πŸ’– A small side plate is also provided for you to discard the shells of the prawns (kudos to the thoughtful and awesome service! πŸ‘πŸ») While the farfalle was served al dente, some pieces felt a tad undercooked, with a tough and raw texture. The pesto sauce was creamy, flavourful, with a characteristic subtle herbaceous minty note of basil. The portobello mushrooms were chewy, juicy with an earthy note whereas the sundried tomatoes were tangy, adding a tinge of acidity to the other stronger elements. Indeed, handmade pastas just taste so different from the typical ones; wouldn't mind coming back for return trips if only the location was more accessible πŸ‘‰πŸ»πŸ‘ˆπŸ»

The fettuccine was thick, flat with an al dente texture that was a tad too tough for my liking; perhaps the linguine would be a better option. Nevertheless, the generous portion of savoury, tender and juicy bacon slices, chewy and earthy button mushrooms were a great complement creamy, flavourful and cheesy sauce that was surprisingly enjoyable without being too overwhelming and gelat. At a pocket friendly pricing

Along with your choice of linguine or fettuccine for the noodles, the pasta was done al dente, with a pleasant firmness to the bite. Tossed with crabmeat chunks, chilli crab sauce and lime leaves, the end result was one that's flavourful with a shiok lingering spiciness that's not suited for the faint hearted! The lime leaves added a subtle tangy note coupled with a characteristic citrusy fragrance. Crabmeat chunks were present significantly in a generous amount, fresh with a soft, delicate mouthfeel .

Swipe to reveal the flavours featured here. Originating from Thailand, these freshly baked pastry pies resembled the famous Wife's Biscuit (老婆ι₯Ό) from Hong Kong, with the crisp, crumbly pastry layers encasing the sweet, paste-like fillings. However, the version here differs slightly with a thin and mere pastry crust that contains a generous amount of fillings. The fillings were also smooth, creamy and soft unlike the sticky kind in Wife's biscuit. Among all the flavours I've had, my personal favourite and ultimate bias is the Thai milk tea that was sweet yet bearing a fragrant Thai tea flavour with a lingering aroma. Following after is the matcha flavour, with a distinctive earthy flavour that could have been more intense and less milky. .

Thin, fluffy, pandan-infused pancakes layered generously with shredded coconut sweetened with palm sugar, this was now wonder a hit among many! Heard it's one of their best seller and true enough, it won my heart over. The vanilla ice cream served alongside is smooth and creamy too! However, I personally recommend this for sharing unless u have a really really sweet tooth!
