Organic, and handmade pasta!
Which this restaurant boast about their handmade pasta, Iām not quite sure about the taste.
At the price point of SGD$33, Iām not sure itās worth every cent. A little bland, with the only saving grace of the pork jowl.
Fancy but Iāll skip!
Artfully plated, with a firm burrata half in TOP of a slice tomato. Overall, decent but definitely wished they weren't stingy with portion.
One of my favourite lasagna to date. Homemade green (possibly made from spinach) pasta sheets, layered with minced meat, tomato sauce, light cream and a small drizzle with pesto sauce, and finally a thin crisp cheese sheet on top it all! The end result, light, al dente, and absolutely heart warming Italian dish. With its impeccable setting, and ambience, you feel like you're in someone's home with a firewood oven, and open kitchen to watch your food come to live.
When this tiny bistro is own and run by an Italian couple, you know that everything on the menu is legit.
Take this handsome rigatoni and eggplant. Gorgeous tomato based sauce that is so flavourful, and meaty! Then eggplant is diced and crunchy, giving every mouthful a good bite. I swear, because of the red sauce having the beefy meat flavour, I thought I was having a meat dish! Slightly on the spicy side, which I am not complaining at all, compliment the extra cheese on side. So heart and homely, it sure feels like it's being cooked by an Italian grandma. Comforting, heartwarming, and certainly plain delicious.
Seriously decent linguine with prawns, in lemon butter sauce. Digging that citrus buttery coated al dente linguine. It's quite light, considering that it's butter sauce. Could use some spice, but if you need some kick. Prawns are crunchy and huge.
I love random bistrot in the east. That run-down, homely vibes of the east is a charmer. We had their special, burrata with Parma ham. I'm siting on the fence in this burrata. It's very milky, almost like drinking milk. It's too "runny" for my taste, I still like my burrata, while it's soft, firm in texture. The tomato coated bread is an overkill. But the rocket salad on the side is surprisingly relish, with a slight spicy garlicky dressing. The choice of Parma ham bought by them, isn't my favourite. But great size for sharing.
Fans of Jamie's already had their slices from the Forum outlet. So I am happy to inform you that their popular artisan pizza are also available in VivoCity branch. Thin crust and doughy, their pizza sure is very classic in every way. Fresh ingredients well thought out are thrown carelessly on top. And accompanied by their personally handpicked and brought in from Italy, Wine and Prosecco, I can guarantee that you will have a good time at Jamie's Italian.
On the plate, we have five wonderful slices, and of which four of them are ONLY available at VivioCity.
Margherita ($21) ; The pizza is made
with crushed tomatoes, basil, mozzarella and extra virgin olive oil. For the sauce, the tomatoes are pushed through a sieve and not blended. Therefore retaining some texture in the sauce.
These are only available at VivoCity outlet!
Spicy Meatball ($24.50) ; This pizza comprises ānduja (a spicy salame), tomato sauce, hand-rolled pork meatballs, garlic and Parmesan. (This I had to add is my personal favourite among the five I have tried. Well season meatballs, that just go oh-so-well with the tomato based sauce).
Funghi Misti ($23.50) ; A hit amongst mushroom lovers, this pizza is made with porcini mushroom sauce, roasted herby mushrooms (Oyster mushrooms & Paris mushrooms), mozzarella, chervil and tarragon.
Courgette Pollo ($24.50) ; A tomato-based pizza with crushed tomatoes, charred courgettes and flaked chicken with Gaeta olives, bocconcini, Parmesan cheese, and topped with rocket leaves.
Fiorentina ($23.50) ; A white pizza with creamy bƩchamel, spinach, mozzarella, and topped with free-range eggs.
Pizza at pizza bar, can never go wrong. Crisp, thin and handmade. Their attention to details and generosity in their ingredients is simply commendable. What I have here, is great for sharing, overfilled with Parma ham, wild rocket, shaved parmesan. Lying right on top on tomato sauce, you can't go wrong with such a classic. The wait staff were friendly, the ambience is great for 1st dates, without burning a hole. Dark, warm and lush decor of wood and leather. This place is truly a great TGIF joint to wind down and wine down.
Set lunch of $16.90, you will have a small set of salad, ham, and cheese of the day. It's a good start to a rather impressive executive lunch. With a craving for risotto, I ordered and was greeted with the generous amount of bacon and mushrooms that the risotto rice itself got lost in translation. Portion was great, and the sauce is especially thick and creamy (so it may get a little too jilat after awhile). Risotto is cooked well, just right without being overcooked. Super filling plate, that could last til dinner. Money well spent.
The restaurant is highly recommended for date nights, tgif dinner and more. Off the usual location, and swamp with Italians and white people.. You know you are in for a good treat, especially when they serve quality true Italian food and wine. Beautifully done, with those tasty prawns cook perfectly and simply in white wine sauce. Those sun dried tomatoes are another dimension in taste and texture. Unpretentious and simple, this is my go to place for Italian.
Love love love! Pasta and crab, favorite combination. The linguine is done right, al dente, dressed in the lobster bisque sauce and shreds of sweet crab meat. And finally, topped it off in soft shell crab, talked over flavors and textures dancing in your mouth. Lalalalaaaaaa *cue singing* And besides the food, this semi-fine dinning is a good place to bring your date out. Clean setting, and white walls, you basically feel like you walked into a typical Italian restaurant. French doors on one side, Italian oven on another, wine fridges on the next, every feels truly Italian. Nestled in the heart of Duxton Hill, the restaurant background music of chatter from everyone. The warmth is spread throughout the restaurant, from the staff to the person next to you. You will catch onto the vibe, after a glass or two, and soon everyone are friends with each other. #EatBurpLove
Soft, drizzled in their special alio sauce. This dish is definitely a "opening" for what's to come later. Light but not tasteless. Yumz.
