Essentially beef slices, jelly like tendon with a crunch, an onsen egg, sprinkle of spring onions and seaweed atop. Places that serves half a portion mains are a saviour, and that’s what I got!

According to the menu its simmered in miso and special seasoning, I definitely can taste that the rice was moist even after I broke the onsen egg to stir the beef slices and rice altogether.

Personally beef with lots of tendon aren’t my thing, so I gave another of the jelly like one with a crunch to my friend after I tried one.

Overall it’s a fulfilling bowl of happiness, leaving me smiles after having it 🏮

After walking through tons of cafes in that district, lies this unassuming japanese restaurant. No frills at all, the pink signboard was what made me found the place.

I was craving for soupy food so I went with beef shabu shabu. The menu had almost no detail about it, I wished it had more description.

When it came the marbling of the beef slices got us all looking at it in awe 🥩 🍲 Thinly sliced beef, accompanied with mushroom, tofu and an assortment of vegetables which are already in claypot.

Beef definitely of better quality, portion of each slice substantial and satisfying. Lives up to being the limelight here.

Nabe itself can have more depth to it by having more of different ingredients in it, making it an even more well rounded dish.

Recommended on the menu: Pan-seared foie gras, US black angus short rib, onsen egg, truffle soy, black garlic brown butter over Tanuki Raw’s signature rice.

It isn’t my first time trying tanuki raw but somehow I think some of the component on the menu has changed from what I remembered.

I liked how thinly sliced the beef was and its tender, not chewy. Broke the onsen egg because I love runny yolk and I dipped the beef slices in it for extra yumminess 🍳 Foie gras however tasted a little off that day, plus too charred on the sides which was quite a waste as I was looking forward to that the most initially.

Good for a quite fix, especially if you can’t live without rice

The spiciness was barely there, wished the sauce had more spiciness because of what the name suggests. Asparagus and tempura bits are what I personally like, and they added texture to it which is nice. However there seems to be the element of dried bonito flakes in it which can be dampening. Overall the taste was quite a miss for me but I think its a good try, especially for those who is afraid to consume raw tuna. Crispy prawn wrapped w roasted salmon, topped w a ton of roe. To make it even more enticing, it is drenched w a combination of mentai and tobiko sauce. Contrary to first impressions upon looking at the image on the menu, the sauce wasn't too heavy. It complements and doesn't overpower the sushi itself. Miso itself fuses nicely w the soup (not the kind where the miso sinks to the bottom and you have to stir it after some time). Cabbage was really sweet, clams fresh and tender. Having all the elements in one mouthful makes it really yummy and comforting. $5 for such quality soup is definitely a steal. Must try and must have! Fresh, generous chunks of salmon meat and roe in a bowl. It was a tad too salty for me as I was halfway through though. There were also 3 free flow side dishes to go with. My favorite was the Oden, so sweet, evidently it must be the magical broth which gave it its flavor I wish I can have it everyday.

Described as what sumo wrestlers have to provide the nutrients they they need is what intrigues me as I read the menu. Clear chicken broth takes the flavor of the clams, without being overpowering and interfering with the flavors of other ingredients present.

Kimchi soup base with ample amount of spiciness, recommended for spicy lovers and those who likes their food to be heavy flavored. Another place added to the list for comfort food if you are craving for mini hot pots during rainy days. Ingredients are all really fresh too.

At $12.80 (before gst) for such big bowl of salad is really reasonably priced. Mashed potato, chicken strips, prawns and fresh veggies makes it delivious and healthy at the same time, and it will seriously make you full.

These golden deep fried lotus root chips are really crispy and tasty, I couldn't stop at one. It actually tastes much yummier than potato chips! Must try for a side.
