One of my go-to supper spot in the East, pipping hot bowl of mee sua soup serves as comfort food.

I prefer pork liver as compared to pork kidney, so I usually request for only liver. Mee sua not overcooked and pork liver usually soft and a little bloody. Broth robust and hearty, yet no presence of any bitter herbal soup taste which is why I love it! 💯

They also serve other zi char dishes and soup. If you are a fan of strong herbal taste soup wise do go for their signature black chicken angelica herbal soup.

Located at Orto, 东星 Dong Xing - The Taste of East Asia

Quite an extensive menu for a place which serves drinks, and it drew me over especially when the menu seems to focus on East Asian food.

Upon giving it a good stir, copious amount of Minced Pork and Century Egg surfaced 🍲 Every mouthful consists of ingredients, coated with sauce from minced pork, flavourful enough on its own and no condiments needed.

Nothing mind blowing but decent comfort food, I finished it all. Would recommend this joint for food and drinks if you are over at Orto.

Although its opening hours states 5.30pm - 3am, I was informed due to the covid situation last order for food is at 1-1.30am. Still awesome for people who wants to have supper past midnight!

I had this the first time when it was located at Lavender Food Square. I was wow-ed by the plate of messy goodness. I don’t usually have wanton mee but the sweet sauce made it addictive and satisfying. After relocating to hoe nam building it still tastes the same, being in the long queue is normal but worth waiting.

Today they are located at 30 Foch Road, the portion got smaller and no add ons of noodles was allowed which took me aback. The noodle sauce still had a little sweetness, the only reminiscent of how it used to be. I added chili so it is more appetising, my friend who didn’t said its leaning towards more salty than sweet. Wanton soup was overly salty though, would suggest to go for the fried wanton instead 🥟

Opens from 12pm till sold out, we went after 1pm on a Saturday and queue wasn’t too long. I will give it a try again when I can to gauge if the standard has really been compromised!

I love (almost) anything truffle.

The texture of the noodles is pretty unique, with it being Indonesian bak mee made the traditional way. It looks a little thicker than mee kia too.

The texture of the noodles is pretty unique, with it being Indonesian bak mee made the traditional way. A scoop of truffle oil is provided, yet it isn’t overwhelming and the truffle taste integrates nicely with the noodles 🍜

Coupled with Chinese mushrooms, onsen egg, vegetable and roasted baby shrimps it looks ordinary at first look but its worth a try for sure!

Lemon tea with lemon sorbet for a drink is refreshing and the sorbet adds a nice touch to it.

Thank you to a friend for bringing me here!

Had the big option which comes in this huge bowl w a generous amount and size of prawns. They tasted normal but for every prawn I had, had tomalley in it and that is a plus point for me! The prawn taste was evident in the broth itself albeit a little fishy so diners who are afraid of things like this do take note. I would prefer a stronger taste, perhaps it would be even stronger when its nearer to their closing time. There was also fried onions provided. A tiny ngoh hiang stall is in it too and in my opinion the you tiao w fish paste tasted the best w the chili provided.

Ordered this to share as it is under Chef's recommendation on the menu. Scattered with huge, generous pieces of quality fish maw. Along with other ingredients like prawns, squids and mushrooms this bowl of soup is delightful. The broth takes the flavor of the ingredients and does not taste like it has tons of MSG in it. A good choice to opt for to share also because it leans towards the neutral side and that it encompasses fresh 'luxurious' ingredients especially the fish maw.

This side dish lives up to its name, with the outer layer being crispy while the inside still remains moist and tender. Paired with the special sauce and pork floss makes this dish stand out even more. I haven't had such good beancurd in awhile, recommended!

One of my favorite main and comfort food to have over here. Noodles were immersed in the flavorful broth and they go very well together, I don't add seasoning because it is as good as it is. Beef briskets were tender and the tendon part melts in my mouth. Noodle lovers must have this.

Ingredients stacked mountain high with braised sauce and curry, it was definitely a messy sight, but a good one. Curry was quite concentrated and rather flavorful, though not the spicy kind. Cabbage and ngoh hiang seems to be a popular choice, which tastes decent and the total price makes it pretty affordable too.

Relatively popular especially to crowds who wants to fill their tummy late at night, this place operates from 6pm-5am. I find the food to be overrated, some dishes are well done like the chicken and stewed cabbage while the curry was rather bland. Good option for those who lives near the area but not worth a special visit.

An appetizer served chilled, succulent chicken meat are soaked in Chinese wine and the taste of it is very strong. The portions is really small though, only enough for one if you are a huge fan of drunken chicken.

Fried fish paste has a smoky flavor to it while the fried beancurd skin retains its softness while the outer layer remains cripsy. Enoki mushrooms were extremely crunchy, coupled with the sauce it was fantastic. The whole dish was infused with fragrant, addictive garlic taste which impressed me. Must order.
