Just opened in the Bedok Reservoir neighbourhood is a new petrol station-themed cafe serving great and very affordable brunch. Staying true to their name and theme, menu items have theme-specific names such as 'Full Tank', 'Fill Me Up' and 'Refuel Pancakes'. Their chill cafe space also allows diners a true refueling experience away from the busy city. Start with the Full Tank ($13.90) or Banana Pancakes ($8.90), and get the White & Black Chocolate Tart with vanilla/ chocolate ice cream for dessert! According to Tastemaker Xing Wei, 'This was literally a slice from chocolate heaven.'
Determined to bring the bagel craze to Singapore, the fine gentlemen behind this new bagel establishment pride themselves in their freshly baked bagels handrolled with love. Cafes dedicated to serving these incredibly underrated breads are rare, but you can rest assured that Two Men Bagel House does it right. If you subscribe to the 'simple is best' philosophy, you can opt for a plain/ classic salmon dill cream cheese bagel. But since you're in a bagel house, after all, you can afford to be a little more adventurous. Go for the incredibly vibrant LOX - cured salmon, cream cheese, red onions, dill and capers, atop perfectly crisp yet chewy bagel halves. Want it more brunch-style? Have bagels with bacon and poached eggs too!
Beef short ribs, bovril, daikon, bonito. The beef was SOOOO good, a few mouthfuls were slick with rich, buttery, fatty bits that melted in the mouth like a dream. The daikon fries, however, were tasteless and did nothing for me.
This Spanish frozen yoghurt chain is known to serve up some of the creamiest, smoothest yoghurt, that is topped with a delectable sauce drizzled on top. The portions are generous, and the prices reasonable. If you can't decide, go for the Sanum, where you can customize your yoghurt with a selection of fruits and toppings. If you'd like to go healthier, choose more fruits!
Pita Pan does healthy food packed with flavour brilliantly, with an expertly executed Middle Eastern menu of Falafel, Pita Bread, Hummus and Shakshuka. The Red Shakshuka ($11.90) is highly recommended, with two eggs poached in a spicy tomato stew, and served hot in the skillet with pita bread to soak it all up. For a good introduction to this cuisine, order the Standard Mezze Platter with Falafel at $26.90 to share. The hot favourite is the Pita Pocket ($10.90), perfectly crisp falafel and veggies inside a warm pita pocked, - delicious and healthy for the working crowd.
At The Lawn, "Meat your Greens" is the motto, and what better way to have salad than a perfectly grilled piece of dory or duck breast to keep you satisfied. With every salad, you can select 5 topping and a grilled item. Favourites include Pacific Dory with Fresh Fruit Rub & Herbs, and the Grilled Salsa Duck for the Biopolis outlet. If you're at the Shenton branch, go for the Char-grilled Garlic Prawns. The one thing that truly stands out here is the portion size, no need to worry that you'll be hungry after this salad!
Ensuring that you'll be full and satisfied, Sarnies does healthy in a really appealing way. The Chicken Caesar Salad is commonly mentioned as one of the best salads Burpplers have ever had, and it's hard to resist the Aussie Grain-fed Beef Sandwich bursting with caramelized onions. What's more, Sarnies is helping you start 2014 right with a 100% Paleo Steak Salad with Guacamole. Best part is you don't have to feel guilty tucking into their beautifully fudgy brownie and a cuppa flat white after ;)
There is no better place to detox than here. Focusing more on raw vegan cuisine, do not expect goumet dishes but rather more basic ones made with super fresh and natural premium ingredients. Order their TLC Cheese Burger which always hits the spot for many meat-eaters. Finish off your meal with the super refreshing Raw Key Lime Pie made from avocado and zucchini. If you would like to bring some of these goodness home, they also sell health products and conduct multiple educational classes on how to live life the 'raw-er' way!
Many minah tudung here. I like!
Located behind the popular Simpang Bedok Food Centre, Badoque Cafe is a great place for a casual Western dinner with your friends. Known for their huge portions, get the Beef Ribs to share - tender, lip-smacking ribs you'll be glad you ordered. If you're feeling in the mood for some fish instead, go for the Mermaid's Tears. *Not Halal-certified, but Halal kitchen & suppliers
