Reliably good and generous desserts with unique ingredients. And so well-priced!

Milo is my secret guilty pleasure. I can remember days queuing for at the milo van to fill our bottles full of iced milo.

Liang Liang Garden has a rather interesting dessert with milo. I'm sure most of us are familiar with milo dinosaur, a drink which involves heaps of milo powder on top of a thick cup of iced milo. Liang Liang recreates this over a bowl of iced kachang.

I am not a big fan of this tbh as the milo powder coagulates and becomes lumpy when the shaved ice melts. It doesn't really go well with the ingredients of an ice kachang as well.

Perhaps a better option would have been to use milo to flavour the shaved ice and dust the powder sparingly on top.

Milo Dinosaur Ice Kachang - Copious amounts of milo powder are showered on the Ice Kachang, much like the beverage version of Milo Dinosaur, which comes with a heap of milo powder.

This stall is well known for their Dinosaur Ice Kachang ($2.30), where Milo powder and red beans take the place of sugar syrup and evaporated milk, but most of the Tastemakers found it way too sweet. Instead, they highly recommend the Cheng Tng ($2). Most stalls load the cheng tng with sugar syrup and cheaper fillers like agar agar, which is why Tastemaker Jonathan Wong really appreciates that this bowl comes chock full of traditional ingredients like dried persimmons and candied winter melon. This means that you can easily slurp up a whole bowl of refreshing sweet soup without it becoming a sugar overload. We'll have two, please!

With the base already filled with the traditional ice kachang ingredients, its taken to another level with the topped red beans, a generous dusting of milo powder, gula melaka and chocolate sauce.

I’d rather have their cheng tng which comes with a chockful of ingredients, but if you really want to try this, please have it to share to avoid bouncing off the walls for hours to come. #burppletiongbahrumarket
