The mala xiang guo wasn't too oily and was more numbing than spicy. The portions were generous with instant noodles added to this too.
The soup was very tasty and not just laden with chilli oil. The mala here comes with a list of fixed ingredients like cabbage, chicken sausage, chicken luncheon meat, vegetables etc. Then you can add ingredients accordingly.
I like this dish but it's usually pricey. Here, it has considerable ingredients, but too little fish, which should be the centrepiece. I spooned too much gravy and regretted. Hours later. You imagine.
Fish is smooth and soft but the portion was quite small. Super spicy. Eat with caution!

From Dengdeng Beef Sichuan ($10.80), Salted Egg Smoked Duck Laksa ($10.80) to Stingray Rice Set ($12.80) and more (swipe for menu), many of these are priced reasonably compared to other eateries around the corner. Here’s what we got:

• Mala Xiang Guo - Spicy Dry Pot ($12.80) ✨
Cauliflower, broccoli, lotus roots, black fungus, potato, chicken sausages, pepper chicken luncheon, enoki & shiitake mushrooms, onions, cabbages, leafy greens and peanuts. Don’t expect the same authentic taste you get from Ri Ri Hong or other DIY mala dry pot, I believe this does have some sort of fused spices or cooking methods incorporated that made it taste just slightly different, & much less oily! Downside could be the prefixed ingredients which you don’t get to choose but definitely in its own league and worth a try, especially with your Muslim friends!

• Rice Cakes Chicken Soto Sichuan ($8.80)
Ketupat rice cakes, begedil, chicken midwings, bean sprouts and greens. This reminds me much of the non-spicy version of Tteokbokki and has what it all takes to divide the Mee Soto & Ketupat Soto gang!
