That beancurd was consistently bouncy and silky โ just look at that perfect gloss. Tart was buttery and crumbled excitedly with a light bite. Really nice contrast and mixture of textures. ๐ฉ

A marriage of lao ban and egg tart, my childhood favourites. All I get are wholesome old-school vibes seeing them get married beautifully.
The beancurd filling is silky smooth, with the slightest tinge of sweetness! I canโt imagine someone with a sweet tooth liking this though, as it is rather light, almost erring on the side of being bland. But I personally really enjoyed the soft and light beancurd!
However, I felt that the crust didnโt balance the light beancurd well. They definitely err on the thicker side, but are also fairly inconsistent in thickness. ๐ฅด The crust I had on the first day was almost as thick as the filling, and was so hard!! The tart I had the next day faired much better though, with a better filling to tart ratio, and it was a lot softer!

It is a tradition for us to have this every year. While the pineapple balls deliver the consistent quality (soft pineapple filling with right texture pastry), the service for this branch has been otherwise. We are not impressed and will probably skip it next year. Itโs the time normally they up the price (from $10.20 to $15) but we hope the service can be matched up too! ๐ค
Very affordable, and consistently good over the years! So good that one can eat 3 at a go :)

Finally got my hands on this! I am not really an egg tart person but a fan of beancurd tart, because it doesn't have a strong eggy taste. Instead, think soft silky beancurd sitting on top of a fragrant buttery tart base. The tart itself is pretty solid and thick, such that it doesn't break into flaky pieces once bitten. The beancurd itself is just right, not too beany, and especially good when eaten chilled.
Sold in a box of 8, but the lady was kind enough to give us plastic bags instead as we were sharing.
Farrer Park: Finally got to try these well-known beancurd tarts from @lecafe_sg! Can't help but feel a smidge disappointed by the way it was being raved about - was expecting much more. It's nice, but not "make orders rush down out of your way suffer bad attitide" nice.

Do not underestimate this chocolate Swiss roll cake, as once you start on it, you will get addicted to it! Been to Pek Kio market many times it just come across this hidden gem on one sugar rush evening! ๐คค

After talking to very friendly lady shop owners and check with her for rum balls ($12.90) and coffee cookie (1 jar for $15), we decide to grab their takeaway signature pineapple box (10 balls for $10.20). ๐

First bite, the golf ball shaped pastry has a nice crunch and super moist pineapple filling!! Hands down, it is the best pineapple tart we have tried so far. I know it's a big statement but we will hand this crown to them until we find a better place for pineapple tart! ๐ Next items are coffee cookie & rum ball!!...who wanna try them?
