Most people are probably put off by the idea of eating turtle. I probably wouldn’t have tried this if my dad wasn’t as keen as he was. But this soup was fragrant and the herbs/meat were not too overpowering. It is served with both the gelatinous soft shell as well as the meat. The auntie is very friendly.
Ordered the smallest portion for 1 pax to try. Auntie was friendly, told me to take a seat and actually served the soup to me, which is rare these days. Most hawkers are self-serviced. She told me her soup is Cantonese style, i.e herbs used are Cantonese based.
They use the same soup base for black chicken soup and turtle soup. But for black chicken soup, they added some XO wine into the soup, hence it is so much more fragrant.Â

The comforting Mutton Soup has a subtle sweetness. The mutton is also cooked to a soft texture that literally falls off the bone. Many people do no like mutton because of its gaminess but I could not detect any trace of it here.
