Ordered BP2 and BP3 - bowls were really good! Yakitori was a little salty tho β¦ also, BP3 may not be the best pairing with the Yakitori since itβs the same meat and roughly the same sauce π
Seaweed was not crispy anymore and waitress insisted that it was normal.
This 'Burpple Beyond Set for 2' was $35.53. Taste was pretty ok and the staff was very friendly!
Set eligible for Burpple 1-for-1
Ordered a Mentaiyaki Kaisendon & Unagi Don set
($38.49 after GST and service charge)
Set includes:
-Mentaiyaki Kaisendon
-Unagi Don
-2 x Salad
-2 x Hot/Iced Tea
-2 x Miso Soup
-4 x Chicken Yakitori sticks
3.5βοΈ Mentaiyaki Kaisendon
Alot of meat which I can find in the bowl like prawn, raw salmon, raw tuna, mock abalone (Dont know if there is scallops in it). The bowl is covered with charred mentaiko sauce which is too over-powering on the last few bites. It is quite worth it for the portion given.
3.5βοΈ Unagi Don
Taste of unagi was all right but the portion is a little small. The bowl includes a slice of tamago, onsen egg and some seaweed. But for the given price, I would prefer to order their diced sashimi bowl.
4βοΈ Yakitori
Kind of love the bite to the yakitori. Soft and tender like a satay and is well-coated with the given sauce.
Miso Soup
Quite flavourful. Contains seaweed, tofu, radish and mushrooms.
Salad
Lettuce, Cherry tomato in sesame sauce
Overall, the set meal has quite a number of contrast dishes and is very filling. But if without Burpple 1-for-1, around $38 for one set is quite pricey.
Value-for-money: 4/5
Burpple savings: 2.5/5 (~ $6.60 per set)
Food quality: 3.5/5
The set includes 2 bowls of don, 2 cups of tea, 2 salad, 2 miso soups and 4 yakitori sticks (not included in this pic)
The mentaiyaki don includes a good variety of seafood - salmon, tuna, octopus, prawn, scallop etc so the taste is definitely not flat or jelat. The different ingredients adds a different texture to each bite.
The miso soup is very flavourful and even includes clams which is a pleasant surprise.
Yakitori is not bad and quite tender!
The salad is abit of a subpar, but since it is an appetiser, it is probably included in the set to make it more healthyπ€£
Tea is refillable in some outlets and not in some so will probably check with the staff.
Pricing wise, the set costs $34.98 nett even though the app states $29.90 (due to gst and service charge). Burpple savings is not significant since the restaurant also has an ongoing promotion set at $35.90++
But overall will still go back again for this hearty set that includes everything you want for a meal π€€
Sprinkled with sesame seeds and nori seaweed toppings, the glazed unagi comes with similar sides as the salmon mentaiyaki don. Be careful of the bones when you're eating π³
