Very nicely fried with chunks of egg, and bits of crispy radish. Was a different person frying and the dish is now a drier version compared to the wetter version by the original stall owner but still good nonetheless.

I first chanced upon this stall, and their overly generous huge portions, back when I used to work nearby.
.
They serve an above average rendition, with a soft easy texture that the elderly folks around here like. Nice smoky edges to their handmade carrot cake, with a good mix of eggs within.
.
Seasoned with fish sauce and sesame oil, each plate is smoky savoury eggy sweet in taste, while being slightly greasy.
.
The black version fares better with a distinct lacing of the sweet dark soy sauce, while the white version has more pronounced smoky eggy notes.

Just the way I like my carrot cake - ticked all the boxes for me. I like it eggy, with kueh slightly firm and not chunky, too soft or mushy. Sweetness and spiciness was the right balance, with caramelised bits and chye poh.

Really good.

Here at Albert Food Centre, Guan Kee makes home-made and excellent Black/white carrot cake. Take your pick from $3/4/5.

Carrot cake is fresh and generous, so are the huge chunks of egg you get with your plate.

Went in the early evening and there was no queue. The carrot cake is very soft and flavourful, yet balanced. There was plenty of eggs for the white, but i still prefer the black. There is less sweet sauce compared to your typical carrot cake, so you won't feel gelak. Sufficiently crispy, but not overly charred.

You can ask for the mixed carrot cake which is $5

Thoroughly enjoyed this old fashioned black carrot cake.

Soft and moist homemade carrot cake with a not so sweet black sauce .

Completely satisfied my carrot cake cravings .
