- vegan chicken rice ($6, +$0.10 for takeaway box) in bottom right corner
tried this vegan chicken rice from Green Bliss Habitat recently and i have to say it was a good meal fr!
tried the rice first and i have to say it doesn’t quite taste like your typical chicken rice rice (well because it’s vegan), but in a good way. the rice retains the gingery aroma of its animal-infused (?) counterpart, and there was some sort of unique herbal taste to it.
the fake chicken was made of beancurd sheets, like the tau kee at those vegetarian beehoon stalls. i quite liked the fake chicken, but disclaimer that i’m a big enjoyer of tau kee so if you’re not into that taste wise or texturally maybe you wouldn’t like this as much. the chicken “meat” was skillfully crafted by folding over the tau kee to mimick the special patterns of meat, and the chicken “skin” was light and crispy (not sure what they use for this tho).
they gave a packet of chili sauce but i don’t like spice so i didn’t try it lol sorry chili lovers
overall it’s def worth a try especially for curious tastebuds! but i thought more of the “chicken” would’ve been given, given the price point (but i do understand that it takes skill to make vegan chicken) 😭
This is another vegetarian restaurant in Fortune Centre and they just revamped their space recently, so you could enjoy your food comfortably in a much brighter space than last time.
I believe most people are familiar with scissor cut curry rice, but do you know you also can find it here in vegan style?
Yes, their scissor cut curry rice offered a very similar taste by replacing the meat with mock meats instead. But the curry was super overwhelming and you will definitely enjoy it a lot.
It can be spicy but not too overwhelming. It is also included a slice of fried egg. $7
So next time if you looking for some vegan scissor cut curry rice, you know where to find it here.
We ordered the Ngoh Hiang at Green Bliss as an appetiser for sharing! :) For $6, it was quite a decent serving and the dish was served hot! The exterior was crispy and the inside was made using tofu paste, which replaced the traditional pork filling since the eatery is vegetarian. It was a rather great take on the traditional Ngoh Hiang and we will order this if we visit Green Bliss again!
We decided to try something slightly healthier for lunch and that is how we landed at Green Bliss Habitat, which is an eatery in Fortune Centre that serves vegetarian food. I ordered the Kung Pao Mushroom with rice, and the dish contained white rice alongside mushrooms (both shimeji and lion mane), tofu and veggies! To be honest, given the name of the dish, we had expected more mushrooms to be included. ☹️
Kung Pao sauce isn't very spicy nor flavourful and the restaurant should consider adding more vinegar and chilli paste to give it a stronger kick. As a result, the dish was on the blander side although it certainly helped us to have a healthier lunch! For $6 though, the dish was reasonably priced and we are keen to go back to try their other dishes, such as the dry laksa which the eatery serves only on weekends!
Honestly not very impressed bc v little monkey head mushroom and veggie portion not enough for the rice :/
😍😋👍🏼
