Enjoy dining without burning a hole in your pocket, no membership required
[TANJONG PAGAR, SINGAPORE] I think @fortunaitaliantrattoria needs no introduction, and we finally paid a visit here! We ordered so much š and here are some of our favourites:
If you can only order 1 pizza, get their fried versions! The Fried Smoked Margherita Pizza š ($29) was absolutely heavenly, not only because the toppings themselves were amazing, but the crust as well. The crust was crispy yet fluffy within and we were addicted! The Classico Diavola Pizza ($29) was also very delicious, just not as mind blowing as the fried pizza hahaha
The Maiale or Pork Chops š ($48) were good as well, as I never knew pork can be this tender š they managed to remove the porky odour as well, and pairing it with the mustard was such a good idea!
As for starters, you need to get the Woodfire Sourdough š ($18) with the Ricotta Dip š§ ($12). Yes $18 for bread seems ridiculous, but it was an absolute joy to savour. The bread was crispy yet fluffy, with a nice smoked flavour. Pair it with the ricotta dip and you get a beautiful hint of savoury flavours! The temperature contrast between the hot bread and cold cheese was notable as well.
As for the rest, they didn't seem too mind-blowing. Wished the calamari was bigger š
Vibes wise they were immaculate ⨠this is definitely a date night spot and is good for celebrations! Do note that they are quite strict on the dining time limit and the waiters are rushing here and there to make sure every request is addressed. Kudos to Aminah, our waitress who was so attentive. We casually mentioned that we ran out of water and next thing we know a new bottle was given š
All in all, I felt like this is a great place for a celebration (it can get quite expensive), but not for big groups. As much as some dishes were amazing, you need to pick the right ones.
To end the meal, we had to get the namesake Fortunamisu ($18). Made with Savoiardi ladyfingers, Bialetti Caffe coffee and chocolate crumble, the house dessert was pretty balancedĀ in my opinion. Yet like most, I think a higher espresso-infused ladyfingers to mascarpone cream ratio would be even better. The crunchy crumbles wereĀ reallyĀ nice as well and overall I love that it wasnāt too sweet.
As for the pasta, we ordered two to share. The Maltagliati ($30) was surprisingly the unanimous favourite. Donāt sleep on this unassuming dish as the elevated mushroom pasta was really slurp-worthy. Tossing it all together with theĀ burnt butter, wild mushroom sauce, fried crispy sage and cured egg; the plate was not too jelatĀ and IĀ love that there were enough sliced mushrooms to go along with each bite of al dente pasta.
For something with a little spice, the Spaghetti ($38) was crowned with Mazzara King Prawn and served with Bisque, Lemon, Fortuna Chilli, Parsley and Breadcrumbs. It was good and well-executed but we thought we would like it more. The flavours are certainly more punchy with the sweetness of the crustaceans and the pasta was perfectly al dente too yet the lack of more textures was a little disappointing for me.

Sticking to all the recommended items, we had to get theĀ Gambero & Stracciata ($38). The double-cooked dough, which was first fried and then baked,Ā is best eaten quickly; causeĀ you gottaĀ love the chewy crisp texture. Embellished with lusciousĀ stracciata cheese, fresh and juicy red shrimp, wonderfully herbaceous pistachio pesto, sweet tangy sun-dried tomatoes, cured egg yolk, and some lemon zest; it was trulyĀ all things delicious. SoĀ savoury, so umami. The key is the plump shrimp which added that oomph to the vibrant pie. The attentive staff also helped us to divide the fourth slice into three because he knew that we would be leaving it as the āpaisehā piece till the end.
