The basil pork with rice is a no-frills kind of dish that hits the spot. The minced pork is stir-fried with basil, long bean and chilli, packing a nice kick of spice and aroma, while the rice pairs perfectly with all those rich flavours. Served with a fried egg and cracker. It’s simple, satisfying, and hard to go wrong with.
The tom yum soup leans more spicy than sour. It’s packed with lemongrass and a good portion of ingredients, making it hearty enough to feel like a meal on its own. What’s even better? They offer a great value-for-money set that includes the a drink. It’s simple, flavourful, and budget-friendly

[BISHAN, SINGAPORE] A halal cafe that opens till the wee hours, @goodbitessg is a place you can consider for your family or friends gatherings. With a relatively large menu, we tried a couple of dishes and these are what we liked:
Baked Salmon 🐟($19.90) - for the salmon lovers, this is a good order! The salmon itself was soft, fatty and yet not overcooked. The mashed potato was smooth and well seasoned, but can get abit salty towards the end.
Seafood Salted Egg Pasta 🍝 ($16.50) - the salted egg flavour may not be very strong, but it isn't too surfeiting as well. Pasta was al dente, seafood was relatively fresh!
Seafood Chilli Crab Pasta 🍝 ($16.50) - for the spicy lovers, this is for you. We asked them to lower the spice but it's still very fiery 🔥 the sweet chilli sauce is addictive, but I had to take big gulps of water 😸
Molten Lava Chocolate Cake 🍫 ($12.90) - to cool off the spice, this will be your go-to. The chocolate lava cake was indeed very molten, and pairs well with the vanilla ice cream given!
Premium Iced Tea🍹($9.90) - these were very decent, with good aromatic flavour without being too sweet.
A cafe option to consider if you are in the vicinity 😆 thank you @goodbitessg for the invite and @eatwithkeat for joining me in this feast 😁
Shredded potatoes stir-fried till just tender with a light crunch, and tossed in a tangy vinegar-based sauce with hints of chili and garlic. It’s a classic Chinese comfort food with a zesty twist that I cannot miss 》$6.80 / Small
Had to add on the uni sushi during omakase and it’s 100% worth it. So creamy, fresh, and briny in the best way. Its vibrant orange hue hints at the quality.
Wrapped lovingly in crispy nori, the combination of flavours and textures is nothing short of magical. The uni's rich umami blends beautifully with the slight saltiness of the seaweed. It’s ultra creamy, fresh, and melts into the sushi rice like ocean butter.
If you're already doing the omakase at Standing Sushi Bar, do yourself a favour and add on the uni sushi for just $10/Piece. One piece might not be enough, so… maybe two?
Part of the Premium Omakase Set at Standing Sushi Bar, it comes with 7 pieces of beautifully crafted sushi, a grilled item, and a ikura mini bowl that's basically a burst of umami heaven.
Each piece of sushi is a perfect marriage of silky, melt-in-your-mouth fish and slightly warm, delicately seasoned rice with just the right fluffiness and grip. The textures are so thoughtfully balanced, I’m savouring each bite in slow, happy silence.
The grilled prawn was simple and good. Smoky, juicy, and came with a slight char that brought out its natural sweetness. And then there’s the ikura mini bowl with salty-sweet pearls popping with a briny and oceanic burst over rice. It’s a literal explosion of taste and texture in every spoonful!
It’s an experience that feels indulgent yet approachable. A way to enjoy the finer side of sushi without needing a special occasion or breaking the bank.

1 Grilled Item, 7 Pcs of Sushi, 3 Kinds of Sashimi, Ikura Mini Bowl, Miso Soup & Dessert
Part of the Premium Omakase Set at Standing Sushi Bar, the 3 kinds of Sashimi was a strong start.
The trio of sashimi is as much a feast for the eyes as it is for the palate. Each piece is a masterpiece of freshness and texture, meticulously arranged to showcase its natural beauty. No fishy aftertaste, just clean, rich flavour in every bite.
This is a must-try! Highly recommended for anyone looking for a unique twist on familiar favorites. The churros mochi waffle is crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, and lightly dusted with cinnamon-sugar perfection. Its unique mochi texture gave it a playful, satisfying bite that had me hooked from the first bite.
The soya bean milk with dough fritters gelato had a nostalgic, comforting taste reminiscent of local breakfast favorites, but with a creamy and indulgent twist. The white chrysanthemum gelato on the other hand, was floral, delicate, and refreshingly light.

The buttermilk waffle was crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, with a hint of buttery sweetness.
The ube gelato has a mellow sweet potato vibe that I love. It was creamy, earthy, subtly sweet with a smooth, luscious texture. On the other hand, the chrysanthemum goji berry gelato offers a refreshing twist with its fragrant and floral undertones.
Together, the flavours create a balanced dance of richness and lightness. Definitely worth a visit if you're around the hood looking for adventurous ice cream flavours.

Plump pork ribs with a nice herbal soy braise that is super tender and fall-off-the-bone. The al-dente noodles have that perfect bounce, well-tossed in a flavourful and slightly spicy sauce without the signature alkaline taste that sometimes overshadows the dish.
The dumplings are plump and generously stuffed with juicy, savoury filling. Meanwhile, the fried wontons are pretty normal and nothing to rave about.
Queue can get a little long during peak hours.
