Say ‘fried chicken’ to any foodie, and they’ll point you straight to this family-style restaurant in Damansara Kim. Here, the Fried Chicken (from RM24) is dredged in buckwheat, resulting in a crispy and light-as-air skin, while still retaining its juicy meat. Burppler XingWei Cheang describes it as “clean and elegant tasting”. They say it's meant for sharing but we say handle it solo.

🍗: The perfect fried chicken: airy, crispy, perfectly seasoned skin and juicy, tender flesh. Unlike most fried chickens, there wasn't an overpowering greasiness present in Table and Apron’s. In fact, it was almost clean and elegant tasting.
🍝: The pasta was deceivingly refreshing. The addition of lemon to the oil-based pasta made the dish a perfect palate cleanser for the fried chicken. Paired with the juicy, roe-filled prawn and unique fragrance of the daun kesom, it’s undoubtedly one of my favourite pasta dishes now.
🌿: The okra was the show stopper of the meal. It was my first time seeing the vegetable prepared in such fashion-- grilled to perfection, coated in the most delightful sticky, dark sauce, and perfected with a tangy chimichurri.
Not exaggerating when I say I cannot wait for my next visit 😩
They said their fried chicken (RM36) is to die for. I beg to differ. It has a very subtle milky (?) flavour. No doubt, the skin is really crispy. But I won't pay that much for this plate of fried chicken.
The house brined fried chicken is always the star at Table & Apron, but their small plates have proven to be worth the order as well. As an avid fan of eggplant, I really liked the charred eggplant with miso, green onion purée and bonito flakes. The pleasant bitterness & strong umami taste really came through. The pulled pork that came with sourdough and a small dollop of cilantro salsa was also pretty decent.
Table and apron is famous for their pulled pork and fried chicken, but this time I'm here for their nasi ulam which provided in the set lunch. Table and apron is really a good place to dine in, especially weekdays, because the set lunch comes with good value! One meal that usually cost rm3x when it comes to set lunch only cost you rm1x and it serves with a complimentary drinks and a starter! The nasi ulam portion is just fine for me, but after finished it I couldn't stuff myself with the earl grey dessert I wanted to try! But it's okay, I don't mind to go back again, since table and apron serve good food 😈😋🤤
Thanks to their menu of hearty sharing plates, Table & Apron is a consistent favourite for group dinners. The homely location and warm waitstaff are simply more reasons you should plan your next gathering here. While waiting for your party to show up, start with a plate of Sourdough Bread (from RM6). Baked in-house and served with butter and sea salt, this will keep hungry folks happy. House-brined and coated in buckwheat flour before deep-frying for an incredibly crispy finish, the Fried Chicken (from RM23) is a winner for dinner. Make your way for the Charred Eggplant (RM19) next. The dish of miso-marinated eggplant that comes with green onion puree and bonito flakes will blow you away with a distinctively Japanese-inspired umami flavour. Lastly, the Ulam Herbed Crab Rice (RM36) reminiscent of local nasi kerabu, as well as the miso butter-fragrant Mushroom Orrecchiette (RM31) will make perfect carbo companions to the meal.
