So the novelty in this comes in how it arrives as a tower, exactly as how the picture looks like. But just like tissue prata, it tastes exactly like yam. Okay, because it has been sliced into paper thin slices, and doused (pretty lavishly) with truffle oil, it You know... like the Aroma Black Truffle Potato Chips that costs just $10 per bag? Yes, go get that instead. It's equally satisfying, probably a tad bit more sinful but much much better on your wallet. Okay, some plus points would be the lightness of this dish (You can arguably eat the whole thing and not feel full) as well as their ability to fry it without it being oily. Still though, if you're feeling rich or you just want to try something novel, there's definitely no harm ordering this but I would

Nice crispy texture with an explosive truffle burst with each bite

Located at our familiar neighborhood, not too far from home, with multi-stories car park next to it and serve our favorite Cantonese cuisine! Fantastic!

1st must have: Ice-kacang! Haha, looks like ice-kacang but it was their signature Crispy Shoe String Yam with Truffle Oil ($32 large). This was a really really interesting & well received appetizer. Must eat it while it was still crispy. So good that we ordered a small portion ($16) as dessert after our meal ๐Ÿ˜œ

My 2nd favorite was ๅง่™Ž่—้พ™. No, not tiger or dragon meat but fresh lobster meat with silky egg white. $9 per pax portion. So yummy & smooth that it was slurped up in split second. My nephew even polished up the crispy flour base in which the goodness was served ๐Ÿ˜˜
๐Ÿฅข
Pan Fried Pork Neck Meat ($30 medium) wowed us too. Those thinly sliced meat was extremely tender & with just the right sweetness ๐Ÿ˜‹
๐Ÿฅข
Duck Tongues with Soya Sauce ($16 small) was so good that even my little nephews enjoyed their French kisses ๐Ÿ˜˜
๐Ÿฅข
Pan Fried Cod Fish Fillets with Garlic Butter Sauce ($48 large) was surprisingly tasty! We couldnโ€™t have enough ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
๐Ÿฅข
Braised Pork Soft Bones with Sweet Sauce ($20 small) was another mouth watering dish. Very satisfying especially for soft bone lovers ๐Ÿ˜˜
๐Ÿฅข
Three Egg with Spinach ($28 large) was good as expected but definitely a no no to someone who doesnโ€™t like century egg ๐Ÿ˜
๐Ÿฅข
Steamed Kampong Chicken ($20 half) was average but the minced ginger sauce was good ๐Ÿ™‚
๐Ÿฅข
Braised Ee-Fu Noodle with mushroom ($28 large) was very well flavored and I kinda detected salted egg texture but I was not sure. Nevertheless it was yummy ๐Ÿคค

Overall conclusion: we loved the dishes, very ๅ…ฅๅ‘ณ as my dad described it. We were impressed by the Cantonese way of cooking, usage of various sauces and bringing out the tastiness of each ingredient.
๐Ÿฅข
One side note though as commented by my mum was ่œๅฅฝ่–„. Indeed the portion was rather small. In another word, rather pricey lor ๐Ÿ˜…
๐Ÿฅข
Still it was a good place for authentic Cantonese food. The service was good and the dining atmosphere was pleasant.

This majestic tower of crispy yam slices, reminds me of the crispy potato sticks tibits that I love when young. Savory and drizzled with generous truffle oil, these โ€œtibitsโ€ were dope!! Gimme another round, pls!

Think zucchini fries, or your โ€˜็”Ÿ้ขโ€™ (Chinese crispy noodles dish) but much finer.

Loved this dish. And can see why this is one of the signatures. Like many dishes on the menu here, itโ€™s Chinese food but with a different element infused into it. We found the Canto food here in this nondescript-looking Chinese restaurant to be above par in all dishes (except nian gao ๐Ÿ™Š). A warming reunion lunch with long-standing foodie company ๐Ÿ™†๐Ÿป Picture cr: @jellymagically; repost cos itโ€™s a pink background :P #cny2018 #herpenandfork #sgblogger #sgfoodie #8dayseat #burpple #vscofood #openricesg #cafehoppingsg #instafood #instafood_sg #onthetable #stfoodtrending #tonnyrestaurant

All dishes cooked by renowned HK Chef personally who is also the boss of the restaurant itself. It looks like crispy bee hoon to many of my friends and I believe the dish wouldn't be able to achieve such a pleasant texture with bee hoon. The balmy Truffle oil blended in gracefully with the finely sliced yam which allowed the truffle flavor gently dissipated in mouth, leaving you feeling warm and satisfied. Crispy yet not greasy. A great appetizer to be.

With more than 30 years of experience under his belt, renowned Chef Tonny Chan helms the kitchen at Tonny Restaurant just a six-minute walk away from Kallang MRT Station. Expect innovative items using quality ingredients, like the Crispy Yam with Truffle Oil ($16) โ€” a pile of thinly shredded yam drizzled with truffle oil, or the tummy-warming Double Boiled Black Chicken Soup ($32) with almond milk. The crown jewel however, is the award-winning Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon ($9) โ€” a pool of silky smooth scallops and egg white held together in a crispy wonton skin shell. Then, load up on carbs with the Braised Pork Hock with Mee Hoon ($20). This sinfully satisfying dish of stewed trotters and fried lard sit atop a hill of mee hoon that feeds two comfortably. Pro tip: Book a table via his website and get one of four of his signature dishes at half price (only one item per table).
Avg Price: $35 per person

Crispy Yam with Truffle Oil. Very light, crispy yet not oily, the truffle oil goes really well with this dish.
