Chilli Crab with an Italian twist
.
Spaghetti served with a whole crispy soft shell crab and loads of crab meat mixed into homemade chilli crab sauce
.

boy: Enjoyed the nasi lemak, big variety of food. Fan of the clam sauce. Onions went well with rice. Chicken not crunchy.

girl: The spaghetti was too wet for her liking. Crab was big but felt like it's been left for a while in the kitchen, fried areas were not very crispy.

Generous serving of crab, and pretty good soft shell crab. Tastes a little tomato-ey, yet comes with a tinge of chilli crab taste. Pepper is a little strong, so may be spicy for some. Overall, portion is good and tastes not bad!

Tried the miso pork burger, the achar gave a really nice twist to the flavour, and chilli crab pasta which was really yummy and had a tinge of sourness so it wasn't jelak. Food was served really fast. Can't wait to go back to try more of their dishes!

Who agrees that giving gives you more joy than receiving? The spirit of love and giving transcends communities and festivals. So I decided to check out a social enterprise F&B this time - Crossings Cafe. Set up by the Roman Catholic Church, ALL its profits go to charity.

They employ disadvantaged personnel so as to give them a viable career path. As part of their vision, it partners with Assumption Pathlight School and Bettr Barista to offer their students and graduates such opportunities.

One of their bestsellers, you’ll get a generous serving of sweet, barely spicy and eggy chilli crab sauce poured over a bed of spaghetti. It’s then topped with a whole deep fried soft shell crab. Pasta was cooked al dente and this dish wasn’t too cloying (jelak). The portion is pretty big and it can sure fill up your stomach quite fast.

Do go down and have a meal. The fare may be very simple. But hey, it’s all for a good cause. 💜

First time @ crossings and it easily made it to one of my favourite cafe places!!! Chilli crab pasta that was highly recommended did not disappoint, soft shell crab was crunchy with that soft interior coupled with the tomato chilli crab-ish sauce, pasta was al-dente too!! As for the truffle mac and cheese, it really caught me off guard because the smell and taste of the truffle was so pronounced and the cheese was generous yet not didn’t cover the truffle and bacon taste!! Highly recommended :-)

It’s resided on the ground floor of Catholic Centre. Ordered 4 dishes - Miso Pulled Pork and Achar Burger, Franciscan Burger, Chilli Crab Spagehetti with Soft Shell Crab and Good Shepard’s Pie all only at $39.55 using 1-1 deals. It averages out to be $10/pax and it’s well worth the price. As a social enterprise, the service was great and the support from the crowd is quite good with a steady stream of customers coming in every 15 mins or so. Out of the four dishes, the Miso Pulled Pork and the Chilli Crab came out tops. The Pulled Pork was just nice with the right layer of fat and not too oily. Japanese and Peranakan cuisine all in a burger - this fusion is definitely not overbearing. Go support our very own Social Enterprise!

December is a month of joy & giving. I have recently visited @crossingscafe with a few foodies, and personally what has impressed me was the cozy environment & friendly staff. Although it was raining on a Sunday afternoon, what I could felt was the love and passion from the food prepared and served.

Crossings Cafe is a social enterprise which creates employment opportunities for the disadvantaged such as collaborating with students and graduates from Assumption Pathway School to intern or work at the cafe.
The cafe serves yummy comfort food at affordable prices and the profits go to charity.

Personally, I have enjoyed the Franciscan Burger ($19), the hand moulded beef patty is succulent, it is made from Friar John-Paul Tan OFM’s secret receipe and the burger is topped with lettuce, sliced tomatoes and smoked cheddar cheese.

The signature black pepper chilli crab fettucine is also an interesting dish that one should try when visiting the cafe. The spicy level is just nice for me and the mixture of black pepper and chilli crab is an interesting combination!

Do check out the cafe and enjoy a meal with your loved ones!
Thank you @crossingscafe for the invitation and the warm hosting!
