Cafe
Ordered two mains and one soup. The mains were 1-1 and were good value for money. The mushroom soup was also very flavourful and thick in texture. On a Sunday afternoon, there was a steady stream of customers. A pretty, instagrammable cafe that not only the young hangout but the old too. Located at the start of Geylang away from the crowd. Will go back again, for sure.
Went there for early dinner yet a queue was forming at 5.45pm. Our second time back here so we know the portions were huge. We shared 4 mains amongst 5 pax. The truffle mushroom pizza, fish & chips, burger were all yummy. The curly fries were generous too! Total price without drinks using 1-1 was $56.50. As we were rushing for a concert at Scape, we didn’t have time to do a review. You can get a free Takeaway Coffee if you present your review to the cashier. Reasonable price for decent food in the middle of Orchard Road.
This is a cafe besides Macs. Crowded on a weekend, had to wait for at least 10mins to get a seat. It’s all worth the wait! Friendly staff, great music, good portions for mains. Used the Burpple 1-1 which allows main, drink and crepe cake (we close red velvet and earl grey). We could choose the premium tea, and it’s really fragrant. Paid a total of $32.90 for 2 mains (carbonara and gyu don) which could have been doubled if not for 1-1. We left the cafe, forgetting to consume our crepe cakes. We went back the next day and the staff remembered us. As a form of goodwill, they gave us another Oreo cake to takeaway. This is service at 100%. Please go to support them, especially during weekdays when the crowd is thinner. This is their second branch, first one at East Coast and they are opening the third. Definitely a very chill cafe which you would want to hangout at.
Bought the Grass Jelly (Set G1) and Honey Aiyu Jelly (Set A1) dessert bowl at $4.40 with Burpple 1-1. The brown sugar liquid and lemon liquid toppings came separately packed. This is most ideal as it allowed us to add the amount to our liking. The bowls are pretty, decided to takeaway to enjoy them while watching the beautiful sunset at the bay. The good taste of the dessert makes our Singapore skyline even more beautiful. Compared to Nine Fresh, this is about $1 more expensive but with similar taste. But definitely, more worth it using 1-1
$26 using the 1-1. I placed the order at the store one night before Christmas Eve and requested to pickup at 11am. They were very accommodating. Pizza were thin crust, super love them!
On a Friday afternoon, no crowd. It’s by the main road and if you drive too fast, you may miss it. Ample carpark behind. Friendly boss who recommended us to try their premium Roasted Pistachio. Can really taste the roasted flavour! We also ordered the Rose Lychee and it was good. Free water to go with it all we paid was $5 using 1-1. Please go give them a try, they opened in May amidst the pandemic and business is really slow. This is their second branch after Jurong. Next one will be in the East. Will support them for sure!
Used the 1-1 pasta with drinks. Go for the coke float, it was only $3.90! Vongole was $15.90 and Carbonara was $14.90. Total cost was just about $23 including service charge and tax for 2 pax. Restaurant seats were almost all taken up on a weekend. Their service was also good.
It was a rainy Friday evening and there was no one when we entered the shop. Very quiet place with nice piped in music. Ordered the premium ice cream - blue pea vanilla and roasted pistachio using 1-1 ($5.10 after discount). Added in a waffle at $5.90. Total payable was $11. The ice cream was a disappointment as it was very bland. The saving grace was the green waffles. They were warm and crispy. To get the crowd going, they need to improve on their ice cream ingredients. It’s a pity that they open till 2am yet are not able to draw in the crowd like other ice cream parlours. The dessert shop two doors away seem to be more vibrant with customers. Was initially excited about this new ice cream waffle late-closing joint in the East, unfortunately the OMO aunty serving us was not able to recommend or market their ice cream too. Thumbs up for waffles though!
This combo I have chosen cost $23. With the 1-1, the total cost is $30 as we ordered hazelnut cola and sour plum drink. There was no serving of water in this HDB setting. The cola is bitter, not as nice as can’t really taste the hazelnut. Didn’t realised it was a halal restaurant till we entered. For a weekday evening the crowd is quite good. The serving of the food is generous but the seasoning is not authentic how a Don is like in Japanese restaurants. Maybe the combo could not draw out the unique taste of chicken/beef. I usually love Japanese rice and will finish it all, but tonight I didn’t finish my bowl. Will not return if there’s no 1-1 as it is pricey in general (beef was not featherblade as advertised) and not exactly the taste which I expected. They should update their Burpple menu accordingly.
Bought the 1-1 pizza (10 inch/6 slices)for a picnic. Chose the American Salami and Hawaiian. This size is considered the smallest and costs $17.90 for one. I ordered additional nuggets and honey wings. With 5 pax for picnic, on average 1 pax ate 2 pizza slices, 2 nuggets and 2 wings. The portion is just right and so is the total cost of $37. The pizza though not oven baked were freshly baked when we placed our order. Not thin crust but comparable with Pizza Hut. The restaurant seems empty without sit-in diners. However, during the 15 mins wait, I saw a number of people there for takeaways. The promo without Burpple is 50% off 2nd pizza. Still a good deal, go support this local business if you can. Note that the carpark at Rock Wall is closed. Park at NTUC side and it’s not too far a walk from there.
This small bowl plus a cute bottle of cold tea is $10. The portion is just nice as this was our dessert. With the Burpple Beyond app it is definitely worth it for 2 sets. They use the Thermomix machine for their Acai, which is impressive. However, as there’s only one server, we had to wait for our turn to be served (about 10 mins) and there was no buzzer to alert us. Although it’s located at the front of the entrance in a little corner, you won’t really notice its presence. But we see a steady stream of teenagers coming to buy. Even the cleaning lady commented that she she likes it when she sees us eating it.
This new gelato place took over the former OCD. Business was brisk, with customers walking in every 15mins on a Thursday night. Used 1-1 to get Coffee and Waffle free. We topped up 2 scoops of ice cream, added 1 cup of gelato and a pot of tea. Total cost = $31.50 and also received a number of stamps for future visits. Seldom people drink beer with waffles, but they were selling it, not sure why especially now that no drinking is allowed after 1030pm. Wished the teapot could have been larger and lighter.
