A good place for old school Cantonese fare and the food here is definitely not catered to the health conscious.

This is a very pricey plate of sweet and sour pork at a coffee shop. But it’s definitely worth it as every piece of pork is fried till crispy that gives it a crunchy bite.

We came at around 7pm on a Sunday evening and waited about 45 mins for food after being seated. This place doesn't take reservations for groups smaller than 10 pax. The food is worth the wait though, and I especially enjoyed the sweet and sour pork and the tofu with prawns. That said, the staff have kind of an arrogant attitude which I didn't really like and it is not the most comfortable place to dine, but at least the food is not bad.

Not a lot on the menu but what they have, they do fabulously well. For me, this place serves the best sweet and sour pork in Singapore and I love their steamed pork.

It’s also $26 that I would rather spend on than their Sweet and Sour Pork, which is ridiculously overpriced.

Pleasantly surprised at how much we liked it. The dish was not what I expected it to be. The taste of ginger wasn't strong at all. In fact, the ginger was picked. It tasted slightly sweet and very yummy on its own. A little like gari (pickled ginger) often served with sushi. Loved their unique version of this popular dish.

@blueskiescottonclouds saw my posts yesterday of the sweet and sour pork as well as the steamed minced pork and was lamenting about how she longed for comfort food. I then thought it was a good idea to go back with my whole family and dear friend to try other dishes. Turned out to be a fantastic idea. Everyone in our group, including the kids, gave the restaurant a nod of approval. I always say that the kids do not lie. They are the most honest critics πŸ˜†.

One of the best I've had. The batter was fried so crispy but the meat was still slightly tender. This can only be achieved with high heat.

The restaurant is run by Desmond, one of two sons of the now defunct Sik Wai Sin which was a very popular old style Cantonese zi char in its heydays. Desmond was in charge of the wok while the elder son, Steve, was in charge of steaming.

No wonder the wok dishes at Sik Bao Sin are so good. You can really taste the wok hei in the dishes.

The sweet and sour pork ($26) was not bad, very crispy and not too sour, but a bit pricey for this portion. The other dishes are alright, nothing particularly outstanding though.
