Common Man Fluffy Pancakes ($24)
I was honestly really excited for the pancakes, considering these were thick! The pancakes came with caramelised bananas and walnuts, salted caramel sauce, nutty crumble & berry coulis. Ngl this didn't taste like a pancake, but more like a cakey texture, which was dense and slightly dry esp at parts without the sauce. It also got jelak so you gotta share this.

Kinda expected more for the price, and I'd defo prefer some fluffy pancakes for brunch! Their other dishes might be better tho!

Overall Rating: 6/10

It was extremely crowded during brunch on weekends, but since it was near the area we decided to give their food a try.

Croissant Croque Monsieur ($18)
Look at that cheese! This croissant was filled with Ham, Bechamel & aged cheddar cheese. Certainly a hearty option for brunch, and it's a combination of flavours and texture that can't really go wrong. The portion might not be enough for some though!

wasnโ€™t a dish that made an impression but can i just say the vanilla ice cream was so good? best eaten with ice cream and the chocolate sauce! p.s. thereโ€™s a reason why they gave these two with it ๐Ÿ™ˆ

this was initially underwhelming but it got better the more we ate it! the fries was warm, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and taste SO FRESH, wonder if itโ€™s hand cut fries! herbs tho wasnโ€™t very apparent except for the paprika. can order if you need an easy snack!

really a full breakfast and everything was so on point ๐ŸคŒ๐Ÿป scrambled eggs were creamy soft curds that were perfectly made - sourdough was fragrant, crisp outer and tender inner - hashbrown was so unique, imagine rosti but a thicker bite size version! - their baked beans were hands down the nicest bakes beans iโ€™ve ever had, tasted like it was freshly made! - portobello was so juicy, fresh and sweet that i enjoyed it on its own too!

We visited Common Man Coffee Roasters late enough such that their lunch menu was ready! We ordered the Cubanos Sandwich as it had a pretty interesting name and we haven't tried a savoury item from Common Man before! The dish comes with two really big sandwiches, each containing shredded pork, ham, pickles, jalapenos and filled with raisin chutney. The bread used for the sandwich was amazingly tough and it may take some effort to cut/bite through although it really does help in holding your sandwich together. The pork and ham were generous although we felt that the most interesting part of the sandwich was the use of raisin chutney, which gave the sandwich a spicy (probably from the use of chillies) and zesty (probably from the use of vinegar) flavour at the same time! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

The dish comes with a pretty generous serving of fries that were covered with a small amount of chilli powder. Fries were rather thick-cut, although they were nothing to be wowed over! For $26++, this was a really heavy dish and if you are not a big eater, you may want to consider sharing this with someone else.

Surprisingly, we managed to get a table for 4 at Common Man quite easily on a Saturday morning as we were mentally prepared to queue for a bit to get a table!

Really amazing! The environment is relaxing and the food is so good! I love the sourdough and poached eggs most! The sourdough has crispy outside and soft middle with the strong aroma of wheat, which highlights the whole day of a bread-holic. All other meat and vegetables are also so good while the flavors combined really amazing! The only bad thing is the price . A bit expensive($30) for a brunch. With a cup of coffee and gst๏ผŒI spent &42 on brunch.

An assortment of vegetables (kale, broccoli, asparagus and peas) topped with egg white and crumbs! Although this is pretty overpriced at $24++, we love it because it feels like a healthier way to start the day! Note that the vegetables are not served plain, and they are immersed in a lightly-salted gravy which gives the dish more flavour. Do come here early on weekends as the queue can be pretty unforgiving; and they dont take reservations!

For $22++, the dish includes two fluffy pancakes which were of the softer and more moist variety. The pancakes were covered with crumbs, as well as caramelized fruits and walnuts, and were topped with a layer of caramel sauce! I thought there was a very nice balance of sweet and sour in the dish. However, the serving was huge and way too much for my breakfast, as I started getting satiated from the pancakes after a while.

Not cheap at all for a vegan dish. But this was 9/10 yummy, 10/10 for colour and variety. Unfortunately, my photo canโ€™t quite encapsulate the myriad of ingredients on this plate - there were scrambled eggs on sourdough toast, baby spinach salad and broccolini for greens, charred tomatoes, grilled halloumi (๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ), 2 huge portobello mushrooms (๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ) and half an avocado, thinly sliced. On the side, there was also beetroot bbq sauce that was tangy yet light and pretty much complemented everything. Ok la, although it ainโ€™t cheap, serving size was large and made me feel very satisfied without feeling sinful or surfeiting. The last bite... was once again difficult. It was initially a tough battle between the juicy shroom and the runny scrambled eggs. Eventually, the shroom took the crown of being that last bite ๐Ÿ˜Š

Love the ambience and vibes of this cafe. They offer coffee samples which is really helpful for deciding which brew to get. We fell in love with Kayon (4.5 โญ๏ธ) which used Ethiopian beans. It had a rich dark chocolate cherry aroma perfumed with refreshing grape and blueberry. The sample cup was perfectly extracted such that it was smooth and easy to drink without any sharp acidity or bitterness. In contrast, we were disappointed with our pourover (3 โญ๏ธ) order that used Colombia Gaitana beans. It tasted under-extracted and overly sour. The unique notes of sugar cane, fresh figs, and mandarin orange that piqued our interest were no where to be found. But that didnโ€™t stop us from purchasing a coffee bag home ๐Ÿ˜‚.

Came for coffee but couldnโ€™t resist trying a pastry. Unfortunately, the tart crust was under-baked, being ultra soft and crumbly (look at the pale colour ๐Ÿ˜”). That aside, it was still largely enjoyable due to itโ€™s delicious filling. As a huge fan of both yuzu and passionfruit, their tangy, punchy, refreshing filling balanced with the slightly sweet meringue hit all the right notes. If only the buttery tart had been baked further to a golden brown, this would have been delightful.

Never had a croque monsieur with a croissant before!!! And I super super appreciate that they were able to accommodate our request of no ham as often these dishes are preprepared and they are not able to remove it.. I really enjoyed this and felt it was the perfect level of filling with out being too much.

Every fry is perfection - crisp outside, fluffy inside with evenly coat of paprika, rosemary and thyme. Very aromatic and light enough as a side to enjoy the other yummies or chill out with a cuppa cold brew.

That kinda sinfully sweet mornings that youโ€™d wanna wake up to

Yes you got that right, oxtail! A twist in the typical ham / smoked salmon. Great for those whoโ€™re looking for a different benny

Food was a lil on the pricier side relative to other cafes.
Portion sizes was a lil on the smaller side.
Cafe was well furnished and pretty tho.
Overall, there was nothing very praiseworthy bout the dishes.
Perhaps the draw of the place lies in its coffee, which we didnโ€™t get.

Dish composed of braised ox cheeks and two poached eggs sittin atop a slice of sourdough bread.
Cheeks were tender and nice. Itโ€™s a real pity because the bread & hollandaise sauce were meh and didnโ€™t manage to accentuate and elevate the beef cheeks.

P.S. Recommend not checking out this place unless youโ€™re feeling rich.
Donโ€™t think the food nor the atmosphere justified the amount spent.
