For sides, they taste like the same sides as Aston’s since they are Aston’s sister company. Def go for the sweet potato fries!
Seriously damn nice bread bowl! It’s not sourdough but the texture is closer to that of croissant.. but the fillings is a tad spicy for me. Loads of spices I believe along with chunks of chicken!
Set 4 is the option to go for at Chic-A-Boo for those who don't wish to go for fried chicken — the set also comes with two sides which one could pick from the long list that they have on the menu board; we opted for the Curly Fries and Savoury Rice for our order.
Quite impressed with the fish here; really fresh and flaky while encased in a crisp batter that is not too greasy — possible one of the best versions from a fast food joint. Savoury Rice was one side that came with a slight Mediterranean touch; the capsicums amidst the savoury rice introduced a tangy flavour that was rather refreshing and cleanses the palate despite being a carb. Curly fries are also pretty decent; crisp without being over-seasoned.
Didn't really have much of a choice for dinner, and reluctantly went into Chic-A-Boo but walked out pretty impressed with how much they have improved since their Ang Mo Kio kopitiam days and even from the early days at HillV2. Set A comes with two pieces of chicken, two choices of sides, a corn muffin and a drink. Chicken came with choices of "Favourite" (which is the original) and "Hot & Spicy", which I opted for the latter and for sides, I have picked onion rings and curly fries. Turns out the entire plate exceeded my expectations set from previous visits; fried chicken that was crisp on the exterior, with juicy and succulent meat that fell off the bone relatively easily, bearing a light, fiery heat that was consistent throughout. Both fried items were crisp as well, and very well much like the chicken, did not feel oily. What impressed me was the improvement in the Corn Muffin; from an oily Madeline it used to be, to a really light, crumbly, cake-like muffin carrying a short hint of corn sweetness wafting within, with corn nibs within for a good bite. Definitely somewhere I would consider to dine at next time!
