I mean, if you donโt want to wait one hour for Chey Sua Carrot Cake (still the best carrot cake, but not worth the wait โน๏ธ) then this is a good alternative. I prefer their black carrot cake though, itโs a mixture of sweet and savoury.
I guess something that is usually overlooked is the size of the carrot cake bits. I like how itโs not all tiny and scattered, with some pieces still chunky. It makes it easier to pick up with the chopstick. A good ratio with the egg, with some still clinging to the carrot cake.
๐๐๐ to this carrot cake. sweet yet savoury.
how im so afraid these hawkers will pass on due to their old age that im here more frequently. such great godlike tasting food at only $2. can u believe that 15 years ago, they were selling it at $1.50. price hike is insignificant compared to other eats in singapore that we know. ๐ช uncle. stay strong
introducing another morning eat in toa payoh. this time at lorong 1 market.
The old man has been whipping up this black carrot cake since I was a little boy. back den, the hawker stalls were single story metal roofed maze. it has been over two decades since and the old man isstill standing there bringing delight to our tatse buds.
the carrot cake. make sure to order it extra black. unreasonably sweet yet just right for De palate. the eggy remains linger as lumps, clinging onto de carrot cakes.
how I'm afraid these ppl would pass on, leaving a void in our culinary world.
