From 3-5 pm weekdays, there's noodle and congee options, three appetisers (4 mini spring rolls, black fungus, tau kwa cubes) and three drinks (some tea, barley, lemon tea). Can't use additional promos including Paradise membership. Mushroom and chicken congee was smooth but salty, and not enough mushroom slices. Both this and the spicy minced meat noodle were pleasant but not amazing. Black fungus was awesome but too much for one person unless you ate it with the porridge. The spring rolls were nothing special. Ice lemon tea was too sweet, the hot teabag tea was great and refillable with hot water. Great service from the sole server.
One of our favourites at Canton Paradise, the Tingzai Congee comes with a large variety of ingredients, including carp fish, shredded pork, pig skin, cuttlefish, youtiao and spring onions! All these ingredients are served atop a splendid bowl of Cantonese porridge, which was flavourful (slightly sweet) and had really fine rice grains! 😋 Amongst the ingredients, we loved the youtiao the most, as it was really, really crispy even though we know it means the youtiao was double-fried... 😅
The congee costs $8.50++, which is very reasonable given that it was served at a restaurant. We added $0.80++ for the egg as the egg was not included in the basic congee dish.
Canton Paradise was really crowded on a weekend evening and the restaurant was full even though we visited at 5.30 pm for an early dinner. Hence, you have to be prepared to queue if you want to dine here!
