Pleasantly surprised by how decent this was. Fried rice was more towards coconut rice steamed with a bit of vegetables. Not the most fragrant and texture was a bit off, but nothing too horrible. The fried egg had a slightly flowy yolk, not bad. The different sauces on each ingredient — belachan on the prawns, sambal on the chicken drumstick, and rendang on the beef were strong in flavour. My serving of beef rendang sadly did not have much meat, most of it was just skin and fat, but the gravy was nutty and decent. Although they claim to be ‘tiger prawns’, prawns were small and not the freshest. They were dry and not juicy, and there was a sweet belachan looking chilli on it. Not my favorite on the plate. The winner was definitely the sambal chicken drumstick. The sambal had an aroma to it, and really gave a spicy kick. The chicken drumstick was decently huge, and was a juicy companion to the rice. Pair a mouthful of chicken and rice with the achar at the side and you get a pretty decent chicken drumstick Nasi goreng hitting all the right flavours!

One of the rare occasions when the actual dish turns out better than the photo. This humongous bowl contains lots and lots of chunks of tender beef and tendon, smooth slippery la mian noodles, some xiao bai cai, baby carrots and radish slices, immersed in a large amount of tasty beef soup.
So today, I decided to go out again after maybe 1 or 1.5 weeks and get something I missed eating! The Nasi Goreng Istimewa! Used to eat this so often before CB! The Mrs wanted to have the laksa, it has 2 prawns and hum too! The laksa gravy is separated. So no soggy noodles. The my also daily special $6 meals! Today’s daily special is the kid’s fav Spaghetti Bolognese. Yes, very tasty that the kid finished the whole portion. She’s a pasta girl! They have delivery service or you can pick up from the Kent Ridge Guild House, Suntec City Guild House or Mandalay Guild House. Kid didn’t want to leave church with us, so we went for spicy satisfying Indian food. Since kid didn’t follow us, she got naan of this delicious food.
A few chickens sacrificed their lives. They didn’t die in vain.
Busy Saturday night for this restaurant.
I thought the fried rice was simple but definitely not as good as those in Chinese restaurants. Does lack a bit of ‘wok hei’ compared to the tze char stalls in the kopitiams.
