Relocated to just a few mins walk from their previous stall at Amoy Street Food Centre, continue to sell their braised items on the menu at Maxwell Food Centre.
It seems like a Taiwanese food stall at first sight, but they actually served the local style of braised meat here.
Their braised belly rice set comes with the egg and beancurd, accompanying the usually braised belly.
Their braised belly comes in firm texture but easy to eat, and enjoyed much with the fat as well.
$5 portion does not come with egg
added $1 for 3 pieces of the fried pork belly
pretty yummy bowl packed with tender braised pork and melt in the mouth fats.. gravy not super salty. the fried pork belly that was prob coated with like panko crumbs tasted like pork chop!
Braise is located on the 2nd floor of Amoy Street Food Centre (#02-131). At first I thought they are selling Taiwanese ζ»·θι£― - turned out that it is a homely version of braised pork belly/trotter/chicken rice instead:)
I got the Braised Pork Belly Rice with Fried Pork Belly ($6.90), as well as a side of Braised Tofu ($1). First thing first, the pork belly is pretty good as it is braised thoroughly and super soft. The deep-fried pork belly has a nice texture because it is covered in crispy bread crumbs, but it is a little under-seasoned and not as flavourful as the braised pork belly. Surprisingly, the one thing that stole the show for me is actually the braised tofu, which is really pillowy and well braised. There are many small pockets in the tofu to absorb the gravy - love it!
Overall, the braised pork belly rice reminds me of a comforting home cooked meal and I enjoyed it!
