Spicy , saucy , full of umami .
One of the best curry fish heads I have had -
With lots of crunchy cabbage , aubergines and ladies fingers amd tau pok and tau kee .
The dish was on a smaller side and not as meaty as I would have liked - but the sauce was amazing .
Will bring my own fish head next time 🥰
Amazing curry fish head sauce - one of the best I have tried .
You won’t get any of that starchy , milky or sweet kind of curry here. The curry sauce was robust and piquant. The curry was came with generous amounts of cabbage , aubergines and lady’s fingers .
The only downside is the very small fish head at 28 dollars - and the fish was not too fresh .
Maybe I bring my own fish head next time 🤣
Tried this dish in many tze char places but none is as good as bao gong’s.
Just like it came out of a home kitchen - very home made .
Tender beef slices and just the right amount of sauce and seasoning to let the aromatics of onions , ginger and spring onions shine through .

For those who know this zichar stall, they are now back to their original spot at 713 Clementi West Street 2 after the COVID lockdown. Ordered my usual fish head bee hoon (you can add XO brandy hence their name) and Har Cheong Gai chicken wings. The soup was tasty and sliced fish meat firm from freshness, not over cooked. The chicken tastes better than all the other zichar around Clementi and West Coast area.
Go before 6.30pm to avoid the queue for tables, especially during weekends.
Not many can understand the sophistication and "sweetness" of cognac. But a touch of the alcohol in this soup makes it much more relatable.
The cognac grants the soup a layer of fragrance and flavor that is simply addictive. On the day that I went, the soup even had a wok hei flavor!
