pretty good if u r hungry and need alot of food LOL it comes w free flow pickles which blew my mind it was my first time having pickles but my friends were all gushing about how good they are too hehe
Popped in for a late lunch at 3pm one weekday afternoon, enjoyed that it wasn’t crowded and thankful that the oil they used was clean; didn’t leave a rancid oil aftertaste (like I’ve read in countless other reviews).
Serving size was generous, each set comes with a mini Chawanmushi, Tempura (2 Ebi, 1 Fish, shiitake mushroom, enoki mushroom, pumpkin, corn, asparagus, eggplant), Rice and Miso Soup which I swapped out for a bowl of Udon soup.
I bastardize my tempura with mayonnaise, unsure what the Japanese folks will think of that, but it’s just how I roll.

If you are looking at not just everything fried, you could go for this which also comes with grilled soba fish, soup udon and long bean. Of course it also included their signature fried tempura with prawn, pumpkin, carrot and young corn.
The portion was enough for one person. The set also comes with a chawanmushi and drink.
This popular chain has outlets throughout Singapore and is a great place to go to get your fried food fix! I myself am a great fan of fried food so I naturally loved everything here (especially the ebi and the sweet potato). |
However, I felt that the fried stuff didn't taste piping hot, so the food could have been sitting there for quite a while and reheated instead of freshly fried to order. Despite that hunch, everything is definitely crispy, and I'm still in love with this bowl of comfort food! | ®️: 7/10 |
The signature don comes with a generous portion of assorted tempura — literally everything in this bowl is tempura battered and fried (except for the rice). Not only do you get a good selection of vegetables and seafood, you also get this AMAZING deep fried egg poached egg that’s super runny when you break into it.
The ebi chicken don is a good choice for people who don’t want to waste time with useless things like vegetables. You don’t get a fried egg, but you get lots of fried chicken and prawns, though the fried chicken leaves a little to be desired. Sauce up with this amazing mayonnaise — think potato salad without the potato. It’s got onions and boiled egg mixed in, and adds a coolness to the otherwise heavy fried toppings.
Another great thing about Akimitsu is that you get to choose what type of rice you want, so you can order multigrain rice to make yourself feel better about ordering an otherwise totally unhealthy dish.
Ordered the set that comes w chawanmushi & miso soup. Very generous with the ingredients, and it was served on top of a small portion of rice with sits just nice in. Wished the batter was lighter and less oily thou.
