Pretty yummy sandwich, a little bit towards the smaller side but alright if you’re not too hungry or if you’re planning to get some sides.

The tonkatsu was tender and juicy, went really well with the teriyaki mustard for some savoury zing. The pickled golden pear and greens balanced all the flavours in the sandwich out and added a refreshing crunch too. The Gouda cheese was a nice addition but it wasn’t melted in our sandwich which I found was a bit wasted - it was just a solid slice (on the menu it’s indicated that it’s supposed to be melted). Melted cheese in sandwiches is kinda the cherry on top for me.

The Sammies here are made with freshly baked Shokupan bread, which was soft and fluffy. I personally would’ve preferred if the bread slices were slightly thicker because well, I love bread!

The Burpple 1-for-1 deal made the sandwich quite an okay deal, otherwise I would’ve thought that the size of the sandwich is pretty small for its price. Wouldn’t get it on its own definitely. A pity there’s only one deal on Burpple Beyond for Sammies!

We visited on a weekend morning and it wasn’t too busy. There’s quite a bit of seating space on the second floor.

Picked a classic flavour - Pinky sorbet, which features strawberry and peach flavours in a refreshing sorbet. It was more on the sweet side, fruity and perfect for a hot day.

When we visited, many of the flavours displayed were on the fruity side, including less common ones like soursop, mixed berries, and even sour plum - so this might somewhere to check out for fruit flavour enthusiasts. They also had many standard flavours like French vanilla, chocolate, and cookies and cream.

The ice cream here lives up to its name - both scoops were truly, very creamy. We got the “Salty White Stuff” flavour, which was salted lychee calpis, and the Sea Salt Butter Biscotti flavour.

I much preferred the salty white stuff (yes) - it was a nice mix of sweet, milky and salty, but more towards a sorbet texture. Quite a unique flavour and I enjoyed it very much - it’s definitely more than its gimmicky name.

The sea salt butter biscotti’s texture was great - super smooth and creamy, but it was too gelat for me as it was just the same taste and texture for the entire ice cream. Maybe if you were a fan of Speculoos, you’d like this much more than me. I found it quite one dimensional.

The shop was quite huge with lots of seating space. It’s not far from Chinatown MRT which makes it a pretty convenient spot to drop by for ice cream. The Burpple 1-for-1 deal makes the ice cream a steal, but you have very limited flavours to choose from since you can only pick the classic flavours - which was about 1/3 of all the flavours.

I found a small piece of broken plastic in my dish towards the end of my meal. Not sure if I just ingested a bowl of melted plastic. It’s a safety issue, so I just wanted to put it out here.

I nicely told the staff about it - and they told me that I didn’t need to use the Burpple 1-for-1 deal as compensation, since this dish would be free. Don’t really understand how that’s a compensation since the dish was going to be free anyway with the deal. 😅 I verbalised that there was no difference, but no alternatives were offered. Didn’t want to kick up a big fuss since there was a family with children beside our table, so I left it, and here I am writing a negative review.

I thought the situation could’ve been handled better - it was slightly unpleasant that they spoke as if their compensation was great, when it didn’t make a difference to me at all. Food was actually okay if not on the pricier side, but I guess after this experience I don’t have the best impression of how this restaurant is ran.

Quite a standard horfun dish, I would say you can’t really taste much claypot or wok hey in it, felt more like it was placed in the claypot just for presentation. We also got the Cantonese Seafood Sang Mee and then realised that the sauce for both dishes is exactly the same. 😂 I think it’s alright for the price with the 1-for-1 deal.

Visited on a weekend evening - wasn’t too crowded and we managed to get a seat for two pretty easily. Service was fine. We used the Burpple 1-for-1 deal here so the price was a lot more reasonable than we were willing to pay for such food. If you are using this deal, do note that there is GST and service charge based on both dishes purchased instead of just one.

The crispy noodles were quite flour-y and tasteless. Luckily the seafood sauce was flavourful enough to make up for it! There were 2 prawns, 2 squid rings, and 2 slices of fish that came with the seafood sauce. Probably wouldn’t order this dish again next time. We also got seafood horfun and then realised that the sauce for both dishes is exactly the same. 😂

Both drinks were more towards the sweet side so I would recommend getting a lower sugar level than you usually would. I got 0% for the Snow Peach Oolong but it was still quite sweet. The snow peach was really delicious but overpowered the oolong tea. I still really enjoyed it though.

The Hersheys Chocolate Milk Tea tastes exactly like it sounds - chocolate milk mixed with milk tea. The chocolate taste was more towards that of chocolate milk than of pure chocolate or cocoa itself. Great for chocolate milk cravings.

Note that the Burpple one for one deal applies to drinks in the same category - so in my case, I had to get both drinks from the Milk Tea Series. You can also pick from the Taiwan Tea Series but you’d have to get two in that category then.

Overall - pretty good a deal considering the 1-for-1, taste is not bad as well. You can still top up separately for toppings etc. The shop is just a short walk from AMK hub, which makes it very convenient.

Marinated Salmon and Tuna Sashimi, Tobiko as well as the Ikura were all fresh. Quite a filling bowl, but satisfying. Pretty worth it. We also got the mentaiko salmon bowl that was equally satisfying though it had a little too much mayonnaise for my personal liking - fans of mayonnaise will rejoice though.

We visited on a Friday evening and the indoor seating was all taken up by reservations, leaving us with the outdoor seating. Service was pretty good, which gave us a good impression of our overall dining experience. The toilets were a little difficult to find but that’s the only downside.

Karaage was deep fried till golden and crisp. It was really tasty with the spicy sauce which tasted similar to sriracha sauce - creamy and spicy, spicier than we expected actually (which was a good thing to us). Bowl was easy to hold and eat on the go!

Thank you Burpple for the media invite!

The grilled cheese sandwich was pretty on point. Bread was fried crisp on the outside, yet still chewy and substantial on the inside. In between the two thick slices of bread, you have a good amount of torched cheese, which makes a great cheese pull for the ‘gram. I enjoyed the sandwich, it was a convenient eat at a fair like Artbox, where you can walk and savour the yummy grilled cheese sandwich easily - they cut it into finger food sized pieces!

The Frozen Mango Margherita was a great accompaniment to the otherwise salty and savoury sandwich, with its cold, refreshing sweetness. Had a small piece of mango at the bottom of the cup as well. Worth it with the 1-for-1 deal.

Thank you Burpple for the media invite!

Scoops were smaaaaall but it’s not too bad with the 1-for-1 Burpple deal if you want to try different flavours, since they’re like taster sized, and good quality gelato. The total amount for both junior scoops is probably the amount of gelato you get in a normal single scoop.

We got the straciatella flavour and the purple yam flavour. Texture wise both were on point, very creamy, and taste was great. Purple yam one was pretty unique, a good pick for folks who would like to try something different.

Overall, I enjoyed the ice cream here. Thank you Burpple for the media invite!

There were supposed to be 12 different flavours, but for some reason half of them weren’t available which was kind of a bummer, seeing that we visited on a Saturday evening and were their first customers of the day. They gave us one extra dumpling to make up for it.

The dumplings were strong tasting and flavourful, I really liked dipping them in the salsa and sour cream. The skin is thick so they filled us up pretty quickly.

The set also comes with 2 drinks, a main and salad/soup “of your choice” - but they told us we could only have Borscht soup for the salad/soup option and Zharkoe (Pork Stew) for the main - which were essentially two soups. Not sure if you’re just not allowed to choose or everything in their menu is unavailable. The deal says “of your choice” under each section so I’m just going to assume the latter. But yeah, another bummer! Without Burpple, this set is $32.

The couple running the store was very friendly, came to our table and talked to us a little about the food and their stall. Overall it was not bad an experience, other than the lack of choice (which was promised in the deal). Good to try once but I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to visit their store again.
