SG First Zichar to sell East-Meets-West Pork Knuckles! Never knew pork knuckles can become a zichar dish too so I was excited to try @siang_garden Family set dinner, with the pork knuckles a highlight, when I first heard of it! The knuckles comes with a good balance of lean and fat meat. I also love the sizzle on the hot plate when the black pepper sauce was drizzled on top of the knuckles when it was served, super satisfying!

You might have plenty of hotpot before but have you had Spicy Bullfrog as your hotpot soup base before? If not, it is time to head down to @taikoolane for their Secret Recipe Spicy Frog and Fish Pot! I love how tender the frog legs were despite being cooked in the pot for a substantial period of time. The mala soup base also provided a bit of fiery kick that keeps you going back for more. We also had our usual Collagen broth to cool down from the spicy mala soup base.

Pair the awesome soup bases here with a variety of ala carte side dishes like their cuts of beef, pork, tofu and vegetables but don't forget about their cooked food too! I particularly enjoy the Handmade Crispy Fried Meat, which is a must have everytime that I'm here.

Looking for an affordable yet tasty Chinese Skewers place in town? We found 很乐山 along Tan Quee Lan Street on Tiktok coincidentally when we were headed to Bugis.

The food here can be described with 2 words: affordable & tasty.

Despite its location in the heart of the Bugis area, the skewers here are all going at $3.80 for a set of 3 sticks! We ordered 5 different types and none of them disappointed! I particularly like the fried cauliflower and fried pig intestines ones.

Other than Skewers, they serve Mee Sua dishes here too.

We ordered the 酸菜鱼/Pickled Fish one and the flavour was on point! It’s a little spicy though! The wife and I both chocked on our first sip due to its deceptively mull appearance 😂 But it was a great dish and we liked that the fish slices were fresh and had no smelly/fishy taste.

We will definitely be back for more skewers and to try more Mee Sua dishes! 😋

The Kirsche Schokolade, sour cherries in dark chocolate, delivers exactly as its name suggests. The sourness of the cherry compote paired nicely with the sweetness of the chocolate mousse gelato and chocolate cake, giving it a nice balance. Coupled with the bitterness and slight acidity of the double shot Empire, this is a good midday perk-me-up. I told my wife that we can go on that walk around Botanic Gardens after this!

The Crème Brûlée surprised me as I am not usually a fan of the burnt cream dessert, that I find is usually super sweet. However, this one, with its dark espresso gelato and caramelised vanilla custard, was perfectly balanced out by the aromatic and bitter double shot of paramount. A really nice fusion of sweet and bitter. Although a pet peeve would be that it melted my ice cream way too quickly for me to enjoy it 😂

I would find myself back here if I'm looking for a midday sweet treat or as a motivation on the midway point of the coast-to-coast trail!

Finally laid my hands on these after lusting after them since forever! These babies get sold out really quickly and I have been let down a couple of times after booking an earlier Boom class just to have them 😅

We tried the Breakfast Sammy ($13) which had some crispy spam lying in a bed of creamy and smooth egg mayo that was really well seasoned that spills out from the buttery brioche buns. I thought that the addition of the chives was a good move, adding some depth to the flavour of the egg mayo. But at $13 though, i'm not sure if I will be back anytime soon 😅 but you should at least try this place out once though!

You may have had plenty of Nasi Lemak but have you had its sister dish, Nasi Kukus? Lesser known but tasty nonetheless, the star of the dish is the rice that is steamed individually in aluminium cups.

The result of steaming the rice individually is the fluffy texture you get from each grain of rice. The curry makes sure that the rice grains aren’t too dry and paired really well with the special chilli sauce. Fiery! 🔥

The fried chicken thigh was to shout for as well! It’s huge, thick and juicy and remains crisp even though I dabao-ed this to my friend’s place a short walk away. Each bite was filled with the juicy, tenderness of the chicken thigh that came with lingering notes of its spice rub.

If you ever find yourself in the northern parts of Singapore, why not give this a try? I shall go for the Nasi Dagang next ◡̈

Where is your go to place when you crave for some authentic China Chinese cuisine? We finally tried 东北小厨 along Upper Cross Street after passing by it for a couple of year 😅

Stepping into the eatery is like stepping into a teleportation machine that instantly teleports you into China! It looks like a Chinese eatery, smells like one and sounds like one too. Talk about authenticity!

The Hot & Sour Shredded Potatoes and Szechuan Spicy Popcorn Chicken tasted exactly like the ones that I got in 🇨🇳 Step into this China away from China if you are craving for authentic Chinese cuisine.

My first visit back to @tartebycherylkoh in almost half a decade! 😅 but the consistency here, no words to describe. Half a decade later and I’m still wowed by my first bite of the Blood Orange Tart ($13.50). I love how the tart base is firm and not overly crumbly, ensuring that I get a nice balance of tart, panna cotta cream and blood orange slices with each bite. So good. But the prices are really a tad steep to be indulging in this regularly 😅

I legit thought @punch.gram had a connection with the boxing studio upstairs when I was first introduced to this place 😂

The Poached Chicken Breast Salad ($18) was great! Healthy and tasty; perfect for an after workout treat. The plentiful amount of shaved parmesan on top gave it a really savoury touch that complemented the rest of the milder ingredients well.

And the coffee here though, really good! I had the Wicked (Minted Mocha) ($8) and would gladly get it over and over again despite its price. The Generra (Orange Mocha) was fantastic at well. Try it, guys!
