The char siew is one of the best I have ever tasted in my life. The fat Melts in your mouth and the sauce is so flavourful!
9/10 in my opinion. If only the chicken and roast pork in this place is as good as the char siew. It would be a 10/10 for me!
Restaurant interior is very hipster like for a Chinese food restaurant. Nice place to bring family or friends for roast meats and maybe beer!
Thanks to dinner with my fellow #BurppleTastemakers, I fortunately discovered that apart from serving the iconic traditional kopi and toast, Tong Ah also serves amazing tze char! The claypot fragrance chicken and coffee pork ribs are delicious! The former was sweet and spicy with good use of dried chilli while the latter was tender with that beautiful glaze and kopi fragrance. Best of it all? It's still an underrated hidden tze char gem!
Man… Tong Ah Eating House’s coffee ribs are good. I dislike coffee with a vengeance but who can resist the fragrance of the sweet coffee glaze?! Instead of having the famous toasts and coffee, I was craving for some good comforting Zhi Char. Best eaten with a steaming bowl of rice; the crispy fried pork ribs were nice and juicy with a good, springy bite to it. Yup, I could have the ribs as my daily coffee fix!
My new fave place for Fish & Chips ($22), comes pipping hot with crisp batter and delightfully moist fish fillets. Perfect fries & creamy yummilicious coleslaw to go alongside too.

Inappropriately named. This came out moulded in a ladle from a container that was spewing mist, constructed right before us. Somewhat Gaggan-esque. The hard shell consisting of condensed milk contained a a luscious interior of lime custard, and below it all sat a crispy homemade "Marie" biscuit. Truly truly enjoyable. Makes me wonder what else this chef's mom used to make at home.
Felt the experience eating this dish. One of the famous food in Singapore. We were so lucky because there was no a long queue. The tasty is absolutely delicious. This is the best Hainanese chicken rice I have ever eaten. Not to pricy though.
Determined to serve dishes that are unique and reasonably priced, Siang Hee doesn't fail to please. After relocating from its famous Zion Road premises to Serangoon Gardens, the standard is still high, attracting locals by the dozen. Order the signature Tempura Prawns in Spicy Pumpkin Cream, and the super crispy Pork Knuckles that are first pressure-cooked then deep fried..
Come early in the day to snag a seat at this award-winning coffee house before digging into the crowd favourite Organic Eggs Benedict ($24). Sink your teeth into tender braised ox cheeks set on artisanal sourdough toast with two perfectly poached eggs. The organic eggs produce super orangey yolks — quite a stunning sight! Instead of the acidic house blend, have the baristas recommend what other coffee beans are available for your caffeine boost.
Another fun dessert that had us chuckling and gushing. Yes, everything is edible, down to the lemongrass foam. The ducky is made of mango, passionfruit and yuzu sorbet. The 'water' is made of creme fraiche, sago, and mango puree. Loved it!
In a neighboring plate, a hearty ragout of portobello mushroom and potato ($25) is deeply steeped in flavor, a thick slice of sourdough toast beneath soaks up its sweetness, two beautifully poached eggs and sliced iberico (aged 30 months) crowning the dish.

Before that, a caramelised orange sauce is prepared right before your eyes, which will then be added to the freshly-cooked crêpe, creating a tangy meets alcoholic base.
