Nasty cocky arrogant bunch of people. The feeling is akin that you owe them a favor, but they should be aware that the customers are paying their salary.
Please go trip adviser and see the numerous negative feedbacks on appalling attitudes. Food is not bad, authentic, but not the best. They sell frozen stuffs, and reheat in-store.

$32.50 for everything.

Homely cuisine, not too salty/sweet/oily/MSG. Not the best Peranakan food but good enough. Casual dining atmosphere. I will not purposely travel there for it, but will def go back if i'm nearby. Will not recommend if you are looking for super awesome peranakan food though.

Good value lunch sets from 10bucks onwards.

Mine was $14 - ayam buah keluak set

Lucky Plaza outlet: Famous crispy duck from @bebekgorengpakndut_sg! The Asian duck confit πŸ˜‚ It's normal-nice, won't purposely travel there, or have cravings for it.

Rating: 7/10

Will i return/recommend: Yes/Yes

Pros: Not a fan of peanut sauce but lovin' the gado-gado (veg) ❀ Oxtail meat was very tender. Crispy duck is yums, especially the skin, so sinful yet good.

Cons: Don't feel too authentic. The duck was nice, but it's not same as the ones i had in Indo & tad bit dry. It's like a simplified version. Oxtail soup was thin (prefer stew versions), & too much "stuffs" inside. Beware the chilli, it's super spicy. Prefer to takeaway/ubereats, place not comfy.

Price: S$37.40 - 2pax, finished nearly everything

Had a lovely dinner @pastajsg as it's dog friendly (NOT dog cafe) & food is well executed! But i should stop eating cafe-style pasta's - it's my fav food & i keep getting disappointed coz i set too high a benchmark. πŸ˜‚

Pros: Very good service πŸ‘ Can feel the passion, thought & love of the owners' efforts in the cafe & food. Everything was nice (but kindda salty/sweet). Not a beef person but steak was so yummy. Favs for today: Striploin, tomato soup, creme brulee.
πŸ‘€
Cons: Food took long time (read it's made from scratch that's why). Portion sizing a bit weird? Soup & creme brulee came in tiny cups not taller than a salt shaker. Very salty pesto pasta😝 Kaya toast was good but too sweet AND salty😨

Price: S$85.80 - 2pax, finished everything

ITALIAN!! My fav cuisine 😊 Grissini is a restaurant within "Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel" serving Southern Italian cuisine & unique for its use of the Josper grill. Overall food is good quality for sure, but didn't set out to impress.

Rating: 6.9/10

Will i return/recommend: No/No

Pros: Superb service. Cosy relaxing ambience. High quality. Very good texture for both veal cheek & octopus (both were Josper grilled). Large lobster chunks in pasta. Potatoes were the best things, smokey apple flavour. Complimentary bread sticks were awesome. Yummy desserts.

Cons: Not authentic, no complexity in flavours. Overall mains pleasant at best - quite bland & "flat" tasting. Pasta noodles not fresh kinds. Lobster obvious thawed texture. Both Josper dishes not charred & hot enough. They did not absorb much flavours.

Price: S$158.85 - 2pax, could not finish veal & dessert, left with 2 bites each

From the same foodcourt as "Janggut Laksa" is this unassuming western food stall. It's one of the more popular stalls here and i have been coming back over the years! Only eaten their meats though, never tried their pastas and stuff. Stall's "Andrew Kitchenette", if i'm not mistaken.

Rating: 8/10

Will i return/recommend: Yes/Yes

Pros: Really good meats, nicely grilled. Juicy & flavourful w/o being too salty. Can choose your sauce.

Cons: Small-ish portion, hardly filling.

Price: S$5.50 - grilled chicken chop w mushroom sauce, fries change to veg

Many laud this as the best Jap restaurant in SG. Yes def in it's own league. Having a constant thriving customer stream over the years is a testament in itself. But if you are looking for full blown fine-dining kaiseiki/sushi-ya experience, offering kappou-styles etc... for that "intimate" experience, do not come here. This is a Jap restaurant in a casual setting where u get to enjoy fine dining quality foods. Think: Sushi Tei but super premium version.

Pros: Good attentive & efficient service. Only place i know that does aburi like this, using high quality seafood (but i have my usual cheaper & good enough place for aburiπŸ˜‚) Salt grilled chicken is SO GOOD. Have yet to come across a bad dish here (maybe tempura). Counter/private room or al fresco seats.
🌹
Cons: Expensive. Maguro sashimi was hard! Will not recommend the dinner omakase for $280++, go elsewhere. Dishes quite decadent but no creative/innovative flair, basically the same throughout the years. On another note, why fix if it aint broken?😁
🌹
Price: S$303.65 - 2pax, just nice with enough space for desserts elsewhere (do note this is considered low spending for dinner already πŸ˜…)

Yet another salad? This time from @iceedgecafe as Lola's was closed. Never liked coming here if i can help it. Been here on/off for many years, something about the staffs (staffs makes the experience, no?) here that makes me uncomfortable. There's always an unhappy vibe.

Pros: Closes late. 1for1 lunch promoπŸ‘ Food & desserts good for cafe standard. Salad was tasty. Yummy durian lava cake/ice cream.

Cons: Salad very little. Lemongrass ginger tea tasted "off". Most of their ice creams are horrible, choose carefully (there are nice ones). Don't like the vibe of the place.

Price: S$19 - salad, tea

... for the 9th time, @lolascafesg πŸ˜…πŸ˜… I'm a reluctant fan. Never liked the place, but just so happens it closes late with alright, decent food & last-orders aren't at 9pm (unrealistic).

Salad is awesome value. The amount of smoked salmon is insane! Unlike most places that gives just a few thin squiggly strips.
Black sesame tart is nice too, very different 😊

Dunman FC: Totally dig this 😍 Sad to see it disappearing for our local hawkers, not commonly found anymore. Fried beancurd with a pocket for stuffings comprising of egg, yam, fishcake, tau kwa and comes with duck rice sauce & chilli.

Rating: 7.8/10

Will i return/recommend: Yes/Yes

Pros: Delicious & just fun to eat.

Cons: Sells out early, been there a few times around 2pm & they were already closing. Sauce is quite salty. Gets a bit "boring" when on to the 2nd piece, yet 1 is always never enough! πŸ˜…

Price: S$2 each (unsure)

🍳
Pros: Good service. Even during peak hours they are able to maintain standard of food. Yellow croaker was beautifully done this time πŸ‘Crowd favorites were the clams & fish, but my fav was the yam duck.
🍳
Cons: Quantity of ingredients getting lesser. Look at the soup! What used to be covered with floating meatballs is now reduced to this. Will not recommend the fish soup (not pictured) for the same reason as well.

Price: S$78.40 (aft $30 discount, complimentary fish & desserts x3) - 3pax, stuffed, did not finish bee hoon
